“They captured the first images of Albanian photography, the figures of independence, but their names are barely known, as they died in misery, or in old people’s asylum, like…”/ The unknown history of the masters of celluloid.

“Those letters are possessed by a beauty, a graceful madam named Zeinep Vlora, the wife of Xhemil Vlora, who, for her part, quite well completes…”/ The reflections of the well-known writer.

Your whole life,

your whole life how long

so short, brother-in-law,

spruce remains, somewhere in the north acartin,

strong spruce,

straight like a candle,

dreaming of another fate –

perhaps that palm of the hot places,

perhaps that Mediterranean sky,

that our sun, that your sun

under which they did not want

to leave us a place!…

And now that you are no more,

now that they died prematurely

and the boards of your stage so dear

they turned them into coffin boards –

now a noble spirit

to uproot from oblivion

and out of ingratitude

and from envy

and rape

and immortalized you again

on  spruce,

according to the sacred rite of the ancient Romans

and of today’s Jews!

You’re there again, brother-in-law,

near your stage,

near your crystal word

of our masculine language,

near your flowers that were

your great love, near your life,

among your friends!

You’re there again,

simple and greedy

titles and crowns –

and you will become

a tall upright spruce,

as you were in life.
