If the approach of a commission that the Democratic Party has recently set up to settle the long lists of candidacies coming from its base with the Regency (October 1943-November 1944) comes to someone as strained, I think, nevertheless in essence they have one thing in common. As a form of political administration, at least.
The word Regency according to the dictionary of the Albanian Language (Tirana 1980, p.1641) is: temporary rule of a regent or a council (in a monarchy) when the king is absent or when he is a minor; the function of a regent or council performing this task; how long does this function last: chairman (member) of the regency; regency council.
So the need for this creature, in the administrative history then came as an imperative of the time that… something was missing. In Albania, in both times the king was missing; the first time Prince Widi was appointed by the Great Powers and the second time the King of the Albanians, that he left on April 6, 1939 and his throne remained empty. And, this is how things went, one of the four regents: Mehdi Frashëri, Lef Nosi, Fuat Dibra (after his death), Cafo Beg Ulqini, brother Father Anton Harapi was a somewhat special choice of the time. said by the commentators of history, but also by his own testimony, too.

And do you know how Father Anthony was “compromised”? Hermann Neubacher, in August 1943 was special envoy of the German Foreign Office for Southeast Europe and from September 11, 1943, after the fall of Italy, he was appointed and responsible for Albania and worked closely with the Wehrmacht until the capitulation of Germany in 1945.
He knew Padre when he was dealing with the choice of government that they would leave in the hands of the Albanians themselves, and in his intentions he projected people who united “German culture”.
On the way, without arriving at the destination where the rescue plane was waiting for him, Father Antoni stops in Thumanë, where his family had a workshop and their property. And addresses the driver: -I’m stopping here. Of course today we are not even in the kingdom when the king is absent as it was in Albania of ’43, nor that the king is a minor…
The DP, one of the political “kingdoms” of the new Albania, alternative power since it was created in 1990 and today has the “king”, its institutional chairman, has the National Council and the Presidency as its governing bodies and all structures its own elected to administer the political life of its membership. But also of the further political and social opposition that is circulating around it and that in Albania is ready to make the political rotation. Strongly and vitally necessary for Albania today when the current government rotten by corruption and incompetence directly threatens public life in Albania and poses an acute risk of eroding our national value. With a dilapidated economy, with a truncated democracy to the point of non-existence or dissolution of its basic institutions such as the judiciary and above with an incomplete parliament to fulfill the qualities of a central legislative body of a parliamentary republic of a country democratic.
Then why this advice? (This “High-regency council” then?)
To democratize the process of selecting candidates for MPs and local statesmen – they said. The party has elected 5 important members. Figures that have administered political, legislative and executive power to the top of the pyramid. As is the case of Mr. Nishani – former President of the Republic.
And here the interest is vital and goes beyond the goals of the party and beyond its supporters. Rotation can not be at all like “switching gates” in a football match. Change is vital to the interest of the future of Albanians. Those who have shared their livelihood here, as well as others from outside Albania, love its prosperity and that of our homeland equally.
Seen in this way, the initiative seems to be a serious innovation. The nomination evaluation commission has been selected as a need to increase the lack of trust in the opposition leadership. This is self-evident and distinct. But are these people “regents” who will fulfill this mission ?!…
So far, we have only heard from Mr. Besnik Mustafaj that he has said publicly: “I do not want to be ashamed.” A statement placed in a moral register worthy of a mission. And Besnik is a very long-lived character of the Democratic Party since its inception and the only one from its leadership who has once voluntarily resigned from the post of minister.
And that party has had other ministers who have long navigated only loads of sacks of public money in the economy and finances of this country, often rumored in the long ministerial journey. And even in the times of power they have broken the thorn and thrown themselves into the arms of the miller… Do you think they can also do a mission?!/Memorie.al
