Memorie.al / I had the chance not long ago to travel on a plane with a man I was meeting for the first time, with whom, although we were very close to each other more than half the way, he remained silent. He had a calm meditative face and two very sharp eyes, he was a little over 66 years old. He suddenly asks me what my profession is. When I told him that I work as a journalist, he smiled slightly and looked away.
I ask you?
– For the sake of the truth, now I deal with business, but as a profession I had the Security school until July 31, 1992, as an officer of SHIK-utm when I was fired.
What’s your name?
– Niko Naçi
Why were you fired?
– Of course, we were the “old beams” of the old house and we had to be replaced, when the new house was being built.
Where did you work after being fired?
– For many years I stayed together with my wife in Greece and there we worked hard and then set up our businesses, which we actually have.
An extensive career in State Security, what will you single out?
– Undoubtedly in 1983, when we, a group of State Security officers, were assigned to guard in prison Kadri Hazbiu, Feçorr Shehu, Llambi e Mihallaq Ziçishti, Fiqrete Shehu, Nesti Nasen, as well as Mehmet’s former bodyguard Shehut, Ali Çenon, etc.
How did you guard them when they were locked in prison cells?
– They were not ordinary prisoners and although they were put in crates, I and a few other friends stood for 6 hours each, on top of the crate and watched them. minutely
How did they stay in the box, how can a man stay in the box?! –
They were placed in the cells of Prison 313 and in their cells, beds were prepared in the form of a large box, where the walls were lined with a layer of cotton and covered with a cloth. Instead of a bed, there was a large box, which was also completely covered with cotton, and up to a subway line there were plastic pipes like those of fire extinguishers surrounding the box, where Kadri Hazbiu and others were. I wanted to point out that in addition to these measures taken, they had spacesuits on their heads.
Where were you staying?
– On the box, right above your head, half a meter away, leaning on the pipes that surrounded the box, under observation of their every gesture and movement.
How long did you stay there?
– We stood for 6 hours, like a candle above their heads, without sitting down and then we were replaced by our friends, they just changed shifts.
And when they did their personal needs?
– This was definitely the most difficult moment, we entered the bathroom together with them and stayed there next to them, inside the bathroom when they did their needs.
Did you talk to them?
– We had it categorically forbidden, but at midnight we even exchanged words; it was difficult, because until yesterday we had superiors and we had personal acquaintances, and you were stuck in a difficult position.
What were you talking about?
– For example, at that time my father died and when Kadri Hazbi had another friend come to protect him, he asked him: “Where is Nikua”?! He had told her that his father had died. When I came to Kadri Hazbiu’s cell after two days, he stood up and addressed me: “Niko, will you give me your hand, so that I can console you for your father, we are desert Albanians”?! He comforted me very kindly and I held out my hand to him…!
What about the events outside, what happened, did they ask you?
– Yes, there were times when they asked us, but we had it categorically forbidden, we had some conversations after midnight, not serious events, but some simple, harmless conversation.
Which of the arrested behaved better?
– Undoubtedly Kadri Hazbiu, he was an intelligent and very smart man, he had an unprecedented sense of smell, he told me about the commercial high school in Vlora and then in the Soviet Union, where he completed special KGB courses.
What about the others talking?
– Yes, rather Nesti Nase, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, who told us how to cook lamb in Mongolia, when he was ambassador. He said he longed to eat a Mongolian lamb, which was filled in his belly with hot stones and then spun on a spit, there was nothing more delicious,
How were they treated, because it was said that Kadri Hazbi had his teeth pulled out and his tongue cut out?
– Absolutely not, they were treated very well, they had good food, meat dishes, medicines were brought to them, as some were on medication and the doctor visited them often. Until the day of the shooting, they were treated very well.
How were they shot?
– I, that night of the shooting, was not on duty, but a friend of mine, who was on duty at that moment, told me that when they came and took them to shoot them, they were all done. Their arms were tied with plastic bands and they took the shape of logs, then they were taken to the open pits and after shooting them in the head with a pistol, they pushed them towards the grave, by means of a short rope that they had given them. placed on the chest. My friends told me that at the moment of the shooting, they were completely disfigured, they all defecated on foot, in front of the open pit…!
How long were you in the cell with them?
– About one year and three months. At that time I was also engaged and we did not tell anyone where we were coming from, for the sake of the truth, I had only told my mother. Memorie.al
