Memorie.al/After you committed a thousand and one atrocities; after you murdered our own (who, I swear, before they died, were the kind of men who redeemed themselves tenfold); after you doused their bodies in gasoline and set them ablaze; after you hung them from Lal Ndre’s Mulberry tree, in the center of Rrëshen, until they decomposed, terrorizing children, women, and the elderly; after you even made the graves of the Heroes vanish, and then herded those children, women, and the elderly through concentration camps; after you burned the Bible before our eyes, and with it the Ten Commandments of the Lord, deforming and defiling a centuries-old character and morality; after you stripped people of their properties, even the most vital and elementary ones…
…after you left us unclothed, unshod, and unfed, even though our parents slaved away day and night at work (truth be told, you left even some of your own children hungry: for the ‘famished’ of centuries never prospers – may not even his own family fall into his hands, let alone another’s!); after you stressed our fathers’ entire lives – those unrepeatable Nobles – by tagging them with ‘postage stamps,’ trailing them like filth behind a tower with every kind of spy, informant, and lackey…
…after you deprived us of our elementary rights, starting with education (“You are indeed brilliant students, but schools are not for you, what do you need books for!”); after you deprived us even of our mother tongue, stating that “only the inferior race speaks in the infinitive,” and calls their mother “nanë”… eh, look, apparently only the inferior race calls their children by name: “Gjergj, Gjin, Mare, Bardhe, Mark, Pjetër, Marie,” etc., etc., etc., for names of the South and the Revolution were required… after you committed, then, a thousand and one atrocities, today you have the courage to ask us not to mention them. Because it is a shame…!
Your morality teaches us that committing the crime was not a shame, yet mentioning it today supposedly is. To put it to pen and paper with the intention that coming generations may know two things – to reflect and to draw some elementary lesson – is supposedly shameful; “You are a good lad, you come from a good family, don’t mention them, things have passed… why soil yourself for nothing…?”!
For a person to mention TRUTHS that marked the fate of three generations is to “soil oneself,” according to the morality of immoral beings!
We did not know how to hate, or how to play the victim. We sought neither retribution, nor revenge. Nor a second “Romania.” With your children, who were blameless and could not have been at fault, we became friends again. We could never wish them ill.
We felt only indignation and pity for you and your dark souls.
But you deserve neither indignation, nor pity, nor forgiveness. You are an incorrigible category. You are a permanent evil; you are a road of no return!
You will never become human! You will never, ever become human. There is no Church and no Pope who can wash away your sins!
The eternal scum of this society! Memorie.al
