Memorie.al / Around the end of 1963 and the beginning of 1964, some of the largest West German newspapers and magazines, such as “Suddetutsche Zeitung”, “Stern” etc., published a series of articles, which stated that; Heinrich Müller, former head of the Gestapo, Obergruppenführer-SS and General of the Waffen-SS, Chief of the VI (Gestapo) service at the Reich Security Services in Berlin, and Adolf Eichmann’s direct boss, had not died and that since from 1945 to 1955, he lived in Moscow, where he worked under the orders of Stalin, Beria, and Malenkov. While from 1955 to 1956, he worked in Budapest and now (1964) he is in the service of the Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha.
Even in the said West German press, from which they were then encouraged to write newspapers and magazines of various Eastern European countries, such as “Vecerniki” of Bratislava in Czechoslovakia, etc., they also gave details about the life and work of the former head of the Hitlerite Gestapo in Albania, where, among other things, it was said that: “The former head of the Gestapo, 63 years old, has been living in Albania since 1956.
He is under the special protection of the dictator Enver Hoxha, in whose service he is today, just as he served Hitler, Himmler, Heindrich, and Stalin. Today, Albania, a friend of red China, benefits from the connections that Heinrich Mueller has with his former SS and Gestapo comrades in the outside world.
His knowledge is highly valued in Tirana. Now his name is Abedin Beqir Nakoshiri, and he has obtained Albanian citizenship. After the publication of this information, he will certainly have to change his identity. Nakoshiri Myler, is the Director of the Western External Section, at the Albanian Intelligence Service. Nakoshiri-Myler lives in the capital Tirana, especially in the largest and hermetically sealed neighborhood, called ‘Block’, where all the high functionaries of the Party of Work of Albania, members of the Albanian government and army live.
Myler lives here, in a luxury building, separated from the center of Tirana, but in a way that is a little more exposed to the rest of the population. But he wants to visit the luxury hotel “Adriatik”, where he tastes French cognac and also always likes “Hennessy” cognac. It was this same brand that was discovered and debunked a year ago, by some of his East German compatriots, who worked as specialists in the Port of Durrës”.
As mentioned above, the writings of the West German and wider European press had a great echo, so much so that, in front of the headquarters of the accredited Albanian embassy in Vienna, Austria, several demonstrations took place, where many protesters called on the government Albanian, to hand over Myler to the relevant West German justice authorities.
Likewise, in the aforementioned articles of the West German press, various analysts called on some heads of state, such as Walter Ulbricht of East Germany, to put pressure on the Albanian dictator, Enver Hoxha, to hand over the former head of Hitler’s Gestapo, Heinrich Muller.
Also, in addition to this, regarding the “Myler case”, many letters were addressed to the official Tirana and the senior leadership of the APS, from the Association of Veterans of the Second World War, of Germany, France, etc., which they asked the Albanian government to provide clarifications regarding the accusations made by the West German press, etc., if the former head of the Hitlerite Gestapo, lieutenant-general, Heinrich Müller, was in Albania. All this forced the official Tirana to react by giving an answer, through the Albanian Telegraphic Agency and the newspaper “Voice of the People”.
Regarding these, etc. it is known from a series of secret archival documents (long ago de-classified) located in the archives of the Albanian state (Central State Archives, Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Archives of the Ministry of the Interior), which are published every time first (with the corresponding facsimiles), from Memorie.al., in several of its numbers.

Members of our association have asked us about the case of SS Heinrich Müller, who, having been one of the leaders of the Gestapo and a close associate of Himmler.
Some publications claim that Myler has participated in many war crimes, and has been able to hide until today. And now there is an important post in the Albanian secret police, named Abedin Beqir Nakoshiri.
We would be grateful if you would be so kind as to inform the Albanian association, a member of the FIR, about these facts, asking them to investigate and inform us about the completion of these investigations.

With deep surprise and indignation, we read your letters of February 28, 1964, accompanying the letter of the association “Obmann des Bundes der Opfer des politischen freiheitkampfes”, of Tyrol and of April 28, 1964, accompanying the letter of the association “National Federation of Internees and of the Patriotic Resistance Fighters” of France.
The contents of these letters let you understand that some functionaries of the FIR secretariat, asking us to examine the “Stern” fascist type of fiction about the occurrence in Albania of Muller, the former head of the Gestapo, and to take a position on this issue, like it or not, joins the hostile anti-Albanian slander of the aforementioned pro-Nazi magazine.
These slanders were concocted by the enemies of the People’s Republic of Albania, agents and provocateurs of American imperialism and supporters of fascism, with specific goals, to discredit the glorious name of the people in the eyes of the people and in the ranks of the old resistance fighters. Albanian, who waged a heroic war against Nazi-fascist invaders, and who destroyed all their waste in his country 20 years ago.
We have built a deeply democratic and popular order, which resolutely defends the socialist homeland, freedom, national independence, and its own sovereignty, which does not bow or kneel before any pressure from the imperialists and their collaborators, which works tirelessly for the development of its socialist economy and culture, which fights with all its might to maintain peace in the Balkans and in the world.
Such a gross slander, such as “Stern’s” fabrication, on Myler, the FIR Secretariat, should immediately give the deserved response and expose it, without waiting for our position. Our press, in time, exposed the monstrous slanders of “Stern” and her sisters, who became spokespersons for this slander (see “Voice of the People”, February 19, 1964).
Whereas the Secretariat of the FIR, not only did not do it, and in this way did not protect the interests of one of the regular members of the FIR, the Association of Veterans of the War of the Albanian People, from the attacks of the agencies of fascism, but allowed that some of its own functionaries also show doubts about this issue, falling into the trap of “Stern’s” provocations.
It never occurred to us that the secretaries of the leadership of the International Federation of Resistance against Nazi-Fascism have stooped so low as to suspect the harboring of a Nazi war criminal in the land of the People’s Republic of Albania, where war criminals, Nazi fascists, foreign or local, have received the deserved punishment from the justice of our people in power, where oppression and exploitation have disappeared once and for all, where no root can be found to revive fascism.
The lairs of the Muellers and their comrades should be sought in those countries where Nazi-fascists are allowed to organize and act freely, where Nazi-fascism is fought only with words and not deeds, where American imperialism, which feeds its revival, is not fought, where bargains are made with the leaders of imperialism, at the expense of the independence and freedom of the peoples to the detriment of peace, where agent slanders are concocted against the Albanian people and other peoples, who wage a determined war against them.
We call it our duty to ask the leadership of the FIR to take a stand and take measures, albeit belatedly, for the unmasking of the authors of the provocative “Stern” article on Myler.

Dear friends. We inform you of the receipt of your letter of May 28, 1964. We are surprised by its tone and the goals you attribute to us, which have nothing to do with us. Our organizations are made up of resistance fighters, with very different tendencies, who try to disorient them with slander against socialist countries, to split the ranks of the resistance and make our struggle less effective.
We feel that when comrades inform us that such slanders continue against the fighters of the residence, they should be given a rebuttal. But the refutation by the FIR, not supported, can have little value. That’s why we sent you the letters that came to us. Without having the slightest doubt about the essence of the answer you would send us.
We could not have been aware of the “Voice of the People” article, as the few staff we have deal mainly with translations of several languages and we have no one who understands Albanian. We think it would be wise for you to send us the French or German translation of the articles to allow us to fight against the attacks on our federation.
If this were the case with the “Voice of the People” article, we would have been able, without writing to you and starting from an official Albanian source, to destroy the maneuver directed not only against you, but against all the resistance fighters of united around the FIR. We also emphasize that in identical circumstances, we have made similar requests to other FIR member organizations, without causing any disruption of the relations of these associations with the FIR.
Had we been inspired with ill intentions towards your country, we would have allowed this noise to spread without counteraction, and having no refutation on your part, these calumnies might find credit in some quarters, and hinder the work of resistance. We understand your sensibility, but we tell you openly, that having no intention against you, our work has no other goal than to destroy the slander.
Your rebuttal will be sent to those concerned and will put an end to a campaign, which has its source in the militaristic circles of Federal Germany. Convinced that after these explanations, you will consider that your evaluations, on the secretariat of the FIR, are completely unjustified, please accept, dear comrades, the assurance of our solidarity from the resistance fighter, in the common struggle that we do, for the peace and friendship of peoples.
