State Security information on the letter of Frano Jakova who was interned in the city of Gramsh, sent to his brother, Tuk, in Berat
LETTER SENT TO FRAN JAKOVA FROM GRAMSH ELBASAN, TO JAKOVA IN BERAT WORKSHOP
I loved Tuk
I was overjoyed today when I received your letter which seemed to me to bring good luck. It was the first letter I received in Gramsh.
As you will learn from Christina’s letter, we are all fine. You are saying that we live in the same conditions, except for the fact that you are in the city and I am in the village. We have a 4 x 4 room and a kitchen that cannot exceed yours in size. This house has not been received for a long time.
First we were at a restaurant in a room that reminded me of Tepelena. We entered there temporarily, but there were no signs of leaving it, until I took an energetic and diplomatic measure at the same time, which forced the leadership of the country to place me here where I am today.
For Gramsh, the building is called good. We do not have such a bad life, and this is dedicated to work, or rather to Mary’s craft. You yourself said that you do not live on the small salary of 3,000 lek with six people. This is true; my salary is enough to get food, to pay the state loan, any debts owed on the occasion of the transfer from Tirana to the Ministry of Education and the rent of the house with the lights, then to the carpenter.
But even though we are in such conditions, we live and do not even complain at all. But I feel a little sorry for the children, but on the back, let them get used to the deprivations that life is long and not always a flower square.
There is a good thing, that they understood the situation and were pushed to this situation. They know that in their free time, Vollona must be kept, in order to allow Marija to work; they keep her in line without saying a word. So they wash the house, the dishes, wash the little clothes, fill with water and do not leave without lessons even the lessons. Both are first in the class and are very different from the other students. Teuta is an exception from the other two sisters and has left Gramsh, yesterday he told us on the phone that he will not come to Gramsh anymore, but he expects us to go to Tirana.
I am a salesman in the reciprocal department. There I try to serve the people as best I can. I am satisfied that the people are satisfied with our work. They speak with sympathy for my honesty and for the good treatment I give you. The directorate thanked me for my work, distinguished me twice and this month rewarded me with 1,000 lek.
This seems to me like a children’s game, which turns out to be a nonsensical seller: This difference for me is: Expensive. This shows my honesty towards the issue and my determination to serve this issue in all circumstances. I do not shy away from this issue and I have the strength, patience and courage to continue to serve all my life, with full faith in the right. You said that Mita was also expelled from the Party.
For me it was not something unexpected, I knew that even unjust statements about work in the organization will not speed it up. I have not made any appeal to the Vedas. Coming to Gramsh helped me to know life better and to live closer to my children and family. These are the people with whom I spend more time, at the same time I read a lot of artistic literature; I can say that I have finished reading the same volume.
I had taken Tchaikovsky’s opera “Jolanda” with me, I translated it, but when I saw that the cuckoo of music I had worked on was removed from circulation, I gave up translating the Opera. We miss you so much and we remind you constantly. I do not know when we will meet, but I wish to meet soon and gather like once the whole family in Tirana.
We embrace you with longing. Write to us and do not forget us.
Yours Franjo.

Report
The source informs that in a conversation he had with Lika _________ from the castle, a carpentry worker, among other things Lika said that Tuk Jakova, had said that; it is not fair for the room they are taking, that he has fought and that he knows well the chairman of the Committee, comrade Myzafer Trebeshina, he is a rich son and he can do nothing to me.
In terms of work, comrade Tuk Jakova has been active, despite being responsible, he often works himself, in addition to that, he has produced several work models, such as cribs and closets. In volunteer work it has been shown to be regular and in addition, during work, we take breaks every 2 hours and 10 minutes.
Tuk’s wife has been a teacher, but she has been waiting for several weeks.
On June 6, 1955, I met Tuk’s wife in Rrogozhina when she was going to Tirana.

R A P O R T
Today on 10 / XI / 1955 at 19.00, in the presence of Operational Worker N / Lieutenant Qemal Ahmeti, an outdoor meeting was held, with B.p. “Nuredini”, who reported to us as follows.
On 25 / X / 1955 he together with Tuk Jakovë prepared to go to the City “Stalin” because they are making an invention for the disposal of wood waste used by the carpentry. Before leaving for Stalin City, he took him to the Interior Ministry Directorate, to the guard officer, his and Tuk’s passport, asking him to give them permits as soon as possible, but the guard officer said that as a rule, you will receive them at 12 noon. He went and told Tuku, that they do not give us now, at this time, Tuku got angry and said to him; go and get my passport, I do not want the permit at all, it became the signature of Zylfi Saliu, like Ali Pasha Tepelena! He said: Do not worry, comrade Tuk, for they will be fine and I will go and get them again.
After getting the permits, they left for Stalin City, when they entered the post-block, Tuku said to him, he: sell all these wells?
They left us poor, each well costs 7 million lekë to open, and our country has no interest in oil, a ton of oil we sell for 16 rubles, so our state runs a deficit with oil. I sent commission three times when I was in government and we did analysis and we agreed to see that we have no interest.
The kerosene in us is very deep and we have not found it yet, we have only gone 1,500 meters deep, while the kerosene is 3,000 meters, I had proposed to drill up to 3,000 meters and so we had agreed.
Following these conversations, Tuku told him a historical work, about an oil well in Siberia, that the Soviet Union had long been looking for oil and that engineers had set some 3,000 meters, but when this depth was reached, the oil was not found and the engineers wanted to close it, but a worker asked Stalin to drill another 500 meters deep, Stalin approved and after 50 meters, oil was found.
After we arrived at the directorate of the Oil Combine, from where we got permission to enter the plant, there at the directorate, Tuku knew many people we met and they respected him by making facilities for us, to give us permission, he was interested in a friend, went and signed the permit quickly to the director and gave it to us.
The persons that Tuku met, he did not know. From the factory’s management he and Tuku took them to the Security in Stalin City, where the permits had to be signed.
On the way to Insurance, Tuku said to him: “Will they delay us here?” He replied: “Let’s see how the rules are and if there is no one, they should not delay us.” There in the Security the permits were signed by a Masar and he gave them to us quickly. When we left the Security, Tuku told him: “Look at the phones now, the Security of Berat, they immediately called the Security here and he says, see that Tuk Jakova has come there, and check that he does nothing”. At that moment, he said, “Why don’t we, Comrade Tuk, do it?” any machinery”.
Speaking of his economic condition, Tuku told him, that; I have some furniture in Tirana and I will sell it, so some year will pass, then I will remain a villain, because I was and I will remain a villain. Regarding this, Tuku told him, s of us from Shkodra, we call him a villain who has nothing.
When it comes to the Party, Tuku speaks well, he says I have a strong Party, do not look at what happened to me, the Party can look at my work again and it can take me back to where I was. For me, says Tuku, this provided me with good experience; this is the experience for me to see the job better.
On one occasion Tuku, told him that I had a good friend, Vasil Shanton, was brave and loyal.
For the director of the company, Andrea Durin and the deputy director, Tuku speaks quite badly, hates them and says that if I had the power in my hand, I would have mines. The director says Tuku, is only for girls, what a director he is when he does not come once and ask how you go about work, do you have material, etc.
On one occasion, Tuku asked him, telling him what work he had done in the past, he told him that I had an oil car with a partner, Tuku told him, then you were affected, he replied, said: half touched.
As for the worker who cut his hand on November 8, 1955, in a carpentry machine, it was the worker’s fault, he cut it out of his carelessness, the machine that cut his hand is such that no accidents occur if you have the mind, but he worker, did not have the mind in place, so, for this accident, neither Tuku nor anyone else is to blame, because with this car you do not have what measure you can take.
Tuku loves him very much, he keeps him close and for everything he asks, both together, they are studying a number of inventions that bring many benefits to the company, as well as work, because for this invention, these are not helped by the director Andrea Duri, with Andrea does not find time to talk, he spends more time with the girls, than to wait! Andrea is quite fond of women and does not even mind the problems of the enterprise. He, among other proposals, has made a proposal to make a kind of machine, that when bricks and tiles burn, the heat that is consumed in the air, by means of this machine, to collect and use for drying wet bricks and tiles .
In this way, bricks and tiles would no longer be produced only in summer but also in winter, because the problem of drying them, by means of this machine, is solved. Tuku also aptly called this proposal, but Andrea Duri did not shake his head.
