Memorie.al/ publishes some archival documents extracted from the Central State Archive in Tirana (the fund of the former Central Committee of the PPSh), where the political diary of the General Secretary of the PPSh, Enver Hoxha, is located, among others, on January 25 and 26, 1965, he wrote some notes on the occasion of the death of Winston Churchill, the former prime minister of Great Britain who led that country during the Second World War, who died at the age of 90 , on January 24, 1965. Regarding this, in his political diary dated January 25, 1965, Enver Hoxha wrote, among other things: “Yesterday, Winston Churchill, a very prominent statesman for capitalism and English imperialism, died. In the period of the Second World War, Churchill was the prime minister of his country and as such he led with great energy the fight of the English people against Nazism”.

But while in these notes the Albanian communist leader, Enver Hoxha, spoke with superlatives about the former British prime minister, it seems he was called “a very distinguished statesman”, what he actually was and was considered as such from all over the western world), it seems that the Albanian communist dictator has regretted what he wrote about Winston Churchill, since only a week later, on January 30, 1965, in his political diary, he wrote only four lines about him , saying: “Today, the English bulldog, Winston Churchill, was buried. We saw his funeral on television.”

WINSTON CHURCHILL DIED

Winston Churchill, a very prominent statesman for English capitalism and imperialism, died yesterday. In the period of the Second World War, Churchill was the prime minister of his country and as such he led with great energy the fight of the English people against Nazism.

He tried, and to some extent even used it, to impose the policy of the English capitalist and imperialist circles, to the detriment of other peoples.

In particular, Churchill worked with every means to sabotage the liberation struggle of the peoples of the Eastern European countries. He did his best to disarm and destroy the Greek democratic army until the liberation war of the Greek people was extinguished.

Tito and his clique, Churchill tied those head to toe to his chariot, to the detriment of the war and anti-fascist victories of the peoples

Of Yugoslavia.

Churchill was a ferocious enemy of the Soviet Union and communism. However, during the Second World War he had to sit in talks with Stalin at the meeting table of the three major allies in Tehran, Yalta and Potsdam.

Stalin, with all the tact and diplomatic acuity that even Roosevelt has highly appreciated, had to face Churchill and fight persistently against his unbridled appetite in the service of the old capitalist-imperialist policy of the English big bourgeoisie.

SATURDAY JANUARY 30, 1965

NOTES

Today, the English bulldog, Winston Churchill, was buried.

We saw his funeral on television. Much damage has been done to the international working class and many difficulties have been brought to socialism by its great and wild activity at the head of English and world imperialism./Memorie.al
