The first part
Memorie.al / “My brother, Petriti, wanted the daughter of the Founder of the Party, but at a time when the Founder of the Party was no longer in good health, the current leader of the Party urged the wife of the Founder of the Party, so that this engagement would not take place. was done and this told my father that; this engagement could not be done because the people will speak. My father called Petrit and said: Forget this conversation! The leader of the Party did this, because if this engagement took place, the friendship would be strengthened and after his death, the chair of the Founder of the Party would be taken by my father. The wife of the Founder of the Party did not ask the founder of the Party about the children’s problems. When my father was dismissed and the free investigation continued with him, we were all gathered at our house, we asked him how the work was? The father gathered us and told us: ‘I have worked honestly, but this is how the Party sees fit. The truth will come out one day, but then I will have grass in my eyes! He especially told me that; Goni, I’m afraid you’re in a hurry. From the injustices they did to my father, my blood rushed to my head and I wanted to take the machine gun in my trunk and not allow them to take my father, but my father told me: Not like that Agron, because I don’t put a rifle against the Founder of the Party”.
This is stated, among other things, in a highly secret State Security document dated March 3, 1987, where the entire conversation of Kadri Hazbi’s second son, Agron, with one of his workmates in Kurbnesh is revealed. of the district of Mirdita, where they were both interned and all that conversation between them, was then sent to Ramiz Ali.
As we will see from the document in question, which is part of a voluminous file that was extracted from the Archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, (now part of the Authority for the Information of Files of the former State Security), in charge of to the former Minister of the Interior, Kadri Hazbiu and his family, in addition to Agron Hazbiu’s conversations with his friend (A.M.), who has declared everything in detail to the Department of Internal Affairs of the district of Mirdita, part of the voluminous file, are also many reports and secret information with denunciations and interceptions against the Hazbiu family, which begin in October 1982, and end at the beginning of 1991.
The struggle of Enver’s closest collaborators in the high leadership of the party and the state at that time, among others, is also known from this archival document that we are publishing today in the first part of this dossier (which will last in ten issues ), where Agron Hazbiu, or as he is otherwise known as Agron Dautaj, (former football player of the “Dinamo” team, has confirmed to his close friends, A.M., regarding the broken engagement between his brother, Petr Hazbiu (graduated as an architect) and Enver’s daughter (also an architect), since the beginning of the 70s, which came after the intervention of Ramiz Ali and Nexhmije Hoxha.
How to “compensate” the rejected Khrushchev at the beginning of the 70s, for the loyalty he had shown to the Party, immediately after the elimination of Mehmet Shehu, at the beginning of 1982, Enver Hoxha offered Kadri Hazbiu the post of the prime minister, which Hazbiu did not accept, suggesting that: “comrade Adil Çarçani could do that better”.
This is also known through archival documents (minutes of the meeting) published in the press after the 90s, but from sources within the Hoxha family, it is known that, after that meeting, Ramiz Alia told Nexhmija about Kadriun: “He aims higher…”! Letting her know that Hazbi was aiming for Enver’s place. And after that, at the instigation of Ramiz and Nexhmija, Enveri immediately started attacking Hazbi, until he was arrested after a few months.
And only 15 months later, Agron Hazbiu was found dead in the copper mine in Kurbnesh, where according to the official version, he had committed suicide by tying dynamite to his body. But was it really a suicide, or did the State Security carry out Ramiz Ali’s order (written in his own hand: “…To act”), being afraid of the son of Kadri Hazbiu, who except once in 1982, he wanted to grab the machine gun, in defense of his father, but even in exile, in a moment of anger, he even expressed himself about throwing dynamite at someone…!
Regarding this and others, we will be familiar with a number of archival documents extracted from the voluminous file in charge of former Interior Minister Kadri Hazbiu and his family, which will be published by Memorie.al.
The secret document with the statement of the internee A.M. given near the Internal Branch of Rrëshen, regarding the conversations held with Agron Hazbi and his brother, Petrit
D E C L A R A T E
I, the undersigned A. M., son of N. and B., born in 1963 in the city of Tirana, and currently living and working in the city of Kurbneshi, Mirdita district, with 8 years of education, with a profession of working in the copper mine Kurbnesh, of Albanian nationality and citizenship, of poor peasant origin and working social status, unorganized, unmarried, unconvinced, currently under a measure of internment for five years, I present myself to the Internal Affairs bodies to testify as below:
In the month of April 1986, I came to the city of Kurbnesh as a family with a measure of internment, both in the place of residence and in the place of work in the mine, I also got to know Agron Kadri Hazbiu. I first had conversations with him, about work and personal life. At the end of August 1986, I was together with Agron, sitting on a bench in the flower garden in front of the palace, and Agron began to tell me about his life, saying: “…I have many friends and we used to do a lot for each other. When we were abroad as footballers, we had fun, it was a different life there, a luxurious life, I liked the drink the most and on one occasion I stole a case of drink, which I thought was whiskey, but when I tried it I didn’t like it, that it was a different drink”. On this occasion, Agroni took out some pictures of cities and hotels, where they stayed and slept, saying:
“…This is how it is there abroad, eat as much as you want, and depending on the occasion, you don’t even have to pay, there the money was left alone without anyone. In the mapo, when valuables were sold, such as watches, tape recorders and other valuables, if you stole them, you were caught on the way out because there were cameras recording them, but we, me and my fellow footballers, stole from private stores and made an organization such that the stolen items were passed from hand to hand.
It was more difficult for the one who carried the stolen item, which in most cases was carried by me and my friends who protected me, so that I too could protect them when the time came, but that they didn’t do it to me either. thing, I was the son of Kadri Hazbiu. My closest friends are: Ilir Përnaska, Shyqëri Ballgjini, Vasillaq Zëri, Kuqi and especially, Muhedin Targaj, etc.
On one occasion when we were going to a match, we stopped at a hotel (I don’t remember the country), in front of our room, said Agroni, there were two foreign women and since my friend, (he didn’t tell me his name) knew Italian, he was called and they came to our room, where we drank and made merry. Those women told us that you Albanians are women’s delight and good at sexual relations, at this time a friend came to us telling us that; you have become a problem, the coach asks you, we hid the women, and when we parted, we left it so that we could meet again, but we left that place”.
In another case, I don’t remember the date, in October 1986, Agron Hazbi had some wood and he asked me to help him. When I went to help him, Agron told me to go a little and take the rope to a neighbor who was exiled, instructing me: “Be careful that here in Kurbnesh they didn’t bring us in vain, but to untie us, that this people is 10 spies and one good one.
At first, we were in a different area and had a wider area of action, but with the arrival of you and other interned families, the circle narrowed. Even in the palace of the internees, they have placed some of their trusted people and devices embedded in the walls. So in one case when we threw water into a cracked wall, where we suspected there were surveillance cameras, the water went down to a family, where they came in revolt, telling us who threw water?! That’s why I want to say that I want the best, don’t talk at home that the cameras do their job and the walls have ears”.
Later in another case, Agroni told me that; I have faith in you that I liked you as a guy and that’s why I open up to you”. One day while sitting on a bench, Agroni told me: “The recording devices, knowing that we were coming, they installed them the night before or a few hours before”, seeing an old man who was sitting near us, he said: “Although he is an old man, his ears are prickly”. In the following, Agroni, talking to me about life abroad, made comparisons with life in our country, saying: “… Abroad there was democracy and you made love on the street, no one was curious about what you did, but here in our country, it is the opposite.
Here they even kill you for women’s issues. Every time we gathered, especially when we played matches with foreign teams, they gave us treatments and didn’t let us go out, but I had a lover whom I would climb up with a rope, or go down myself, this later killed the lover who was a sportsman, as well as himself, at the bunkers in the aviation field in Tirana”.
I don’t remember, but it was summer when I was resting behind the cinema together with Agron, his brother Petrit Kadri Hazbiu saw us from the window and I was impressed that, although it was morning and there was no TV program, Petrit called Agron and said: “Come on, let’s start.” This to separate him from me. Likewise, it was summer when Agron and I were sitting in front of the bus station, I asked him if he had a tape recorder and when he told me that he did, I told him; why don’t you open it?!
Agron told me: “We are mourning for our father” and continued crying that – my father (Kadri Hazbiu) has been accused in vain, he has been accused unjustly, because my father got along well with the Founder of the Party, and the leader of now of the Party and the wife of the Founder of the Party, they were angry with him and accused him of being an associate of Mehmet Shehu, they did this so that he would not come to the top after the death of the founder of the Party”.
“My brother, Petriti, wanted the daughter of the Founder of the Party, but at a time when the Founder of the Party was no longer in good health, the current leader of the Party urged the wife of the Founder of the Party, that this engagement should not take place and this told my father that; this engagement could not be done because the people will speak. My father called Petrit and said: Forget this conversation! The leader of the Party did this, because if this engagement took place, the friendship would be strengthened and after his death, my father would take the chair of the Founder of the Party. The wife of the founder of the party did not ask the founder of the party about the children’s problems.
Next, Agroni told me that: “When my father was dismissed and the free investigation continued with him, we all gathered at our house and we asked him how things were going?” My father gathered us and told us: “I have worked honestly, but this is what the Party sees fit. The truth will come out one day, but then grass will grow in my eyes”! He also told us that: “Measures will be taken against you, but you ask to be together, work well so that the Party also thinks about you.
He especially told me that; you Goni, I’m afraid you’re in a hurry, then he took Elena (elder sister) aside as the eldest that she was and talked especially. From the injustices they did to my father, my blood rushed to my head and I wanted to take the machine gun in my trunk and not allow them to take my father, but my father told me: Not like that Agron, because I don’t put a rifle against the Founder of the Party”.
Then, Agron continued saying that; from what happened, even our Discovery abroad no longer works as it did before, since there is no trust in the Party”. In December, Agroni told me that: “I had a friend in the neighborhood near the train station and I used to go there often, but some slogans were written there and since then I stopped going.” In February of this year, I don’t remember the date, but it was 3:30 p.m. I was leaving work and Agron, who was coming in, told me:
“When you get permission to go to Tirana, let me know that I will give a letter to the bride and her friends, with the address: School “Sami Frashëri”, last name Tabaku, the letter that I will give to the fiancee, you will give to her friends and they will give it to her. (A.S.). Me and the Tabaks, I had company, even with one of them, we talk with pseudonyms, why did we leave a conversation halfway, and you, you will not speak by name, but by a pseudonym and he will believe”.
Agron told me his nickname (slogan), although I don’t remember it well, I remember that he said: “Çakmaku”, but this is not certain. “Before I was interned, – continued Agroni, – I gave the tapes of the tape recorder, the bad ones with foreign songs and others, to my daughter-in-law, A., and I told her that; when your friends come, give it to them. Here in Kurbnesh, I have a driver, liaison, Martin Lleshi, with license plate number 70-74, with whom I connect with my aunt’s son”. Agroni told me that; “Here in Kurbnesh, the aunt who brought my mother’s medicine came to me, and for this, measures were taken against her, relieving her of responsibility. I write the letters in the bathroom, because I don’t want to catch the eyes of the people at home.”
As I said above, Agroni wanted to give me a letter, but since the little son of Lena (Elena Hazbiut), named Arjan Medin Çollaku, had come, he told me that; since Arjani has come and they are following you, that you are interned and they don’t give you permission, that it is the meeting of the Assembly, I am giving the letter to Arjani. And don’t wait for permission now.
That every time there is a party, the spies send them to protect the leadership of the Party and the state, and they don’t have that many spies, let’s follow you too”. Arjani brought me a ball that Mujo (Muhedin Targaj) had sent me, and he told Arjani that; when it breaks, bring it to me to change it. In the letter I gave to Arjan, I told my friends to send me another pair of shoes”.
On 2.3.1987, when the permit to Tirana was communicated to me, I met Agron and told him that I would leave with a permit, he did not give me any order and I did not ask him to give it to me. I don’t have anything else to say, but I emphasize that, part of the conversations I had with Agron, I told my mother and two brothers B and Sh. M., and they told me that these conversations, I told the operator of the area.
As for what I said above, they are true and I sign them for notice. Memorie.al
