1903 – A group of Serbian officers attacks the royal palace, killing King Alexander Obrenovic and his wife, Queen Draga. This act resulted in the extinction of the Obrenovic dynasty, which ruled Serbia since the mid-19th century. After the May coup, the Serbian throne passed to Peter I of the Karadjordjevic rival dynasty.

 

 

1910 – Born in Saint Andre de Cubzac, Jacques Custeau. Custeau, was a French officer, naval officer, explorer, conservator, innovator, scientist, photographer, author, and researcher who studied the sea and all forms of life in water. He co-developed the technique of plumbing diving, guarding the marine pioneer, and was a member of the French academy.

1913 – Mahmoud Shevket Pasha dies at the age of 57. Shevket Pasha, was an Ottoman general and statesman, known for his active role in the creation of military aviation. He was Prime Minister of the Ottoman Empire from January 23, 1913, until his death, after an assassination attempt. He was killed in Istanbul, in a revenge attack by a relative of Nazim Pasha.

 

1935 – Inventor Edwin Armstrong gives the first public demonstration of FM broadcasting in the United States in Alpine, New Jersey. Frequency modulation (FM) is the encoding of information into a carrier wave by changing the immediate frequency of the wave. The term and technology are used in telecommunications and signal processing.

 

Beqir Musliu1945 – Born in Gjilan, Kosovo Beqir Musliu, Albanian poet, novelist and playwright. He is known as one of the most famous Albanian playwrights. He is one of the modernist authors of Albanian drama, whose work proves to be one of the marked achievements of this direction, in particular two with collections of plays, The Witch of Gjel Hani (1989) and Rrakullima (1990). His work is mainly related to journalism, journalism and magazine editing. First he worked as a journalist and editor in the magazine “Zeri i rinisë”, and then in “Fjala” of Prishtina. Together with some creators of his generation, while he was a student, he published and edited the literary magazine “Plejada”, which managed to be published only up to number 6, because the then government, seeing the influence of literary creativity on a large scale, did not finance it and blackmailed it not to be published. editor in the magazine “Jeta e Re”.

 

1962 – Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin are suspected of being the only prisoners to escape from prison on the island of Alcatraz. The fate of the fugitives remains unknown after they entered the Gulf of San Francisco. A fourth prisoner, Allen West, failed to escape in time to join them and decided to abandon his endeavor.

 

 

1968 – Lloyd John Old identifies the first cell surface antigens that can be distinguished between different cell types. Lloyd Old was one of the founders and standard carriers of the field of cancer immunology. When he began his career in 1958, tumor immunology was in the early stages of its development.

 

 

2018 – US President Donald Trump and North Korean Kim Jong-un held their first meeting between the leaders of their two countries in Singapore. This would be the first meeting in history between the respective leaders of both countries, following a frozen political and diplomatic relationship since 1945.
