1924 – Woodrow Wilson dies at age 67 in Washington. Wilson, was an American politician, lawyer, and academic who served as the 28th president of the United States from 1913 to 1921. As president, he oversaw the passing of unprecedented progressive legislative policies until the New Deal in 1933. He supported the creation of the Albanian state at the Versailles Conference.

 

1953 – The Batepa massacre took place in S To Tomé and Príncipe when the colonial administration and Portuguese landowners sparked a wave of violence against native populations known as ferrous. The residents believed the government intended to force them to work as contract workers, which they opposed. In response, the governor ordered the army to attack them. This resulted in the death of hundreds of forms.

1960 – British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan speaks of “an era of change”, signaling that his Government is likely to support de colonialism. The “Era of Change” speech was an important speech by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Harold Macmillan to the South African Parliament on 3 February 1960 in Cape Town. Macmillan initiated the process of recognizing the independence of the colonies.

 

1968 – Born in Prijepolje, Vlade Divac. Divac, a professional Serbian basketball player, currently serves as general manager of the Sacramento Kings. Divac spent most of his NBA career. 2.16cm tall he played center and was known for his passing skills. Divac was among the first group of European basketball players to transfer to the NBA in the 1980s and was named one of EuroLeague’s top players.

 

1972 – The first day of the three-month snowstorm in Iran, which would kill at least 4,000 people, making it the deadliest storm in history. Storms threw more than 3 meters of snow across rural areas in northwestern, central and southern Iran. One of the hardest-hit areas would be the village of Sheklab, near the border with Turkey in which 100 of its residents died.

 

1984 – John Buster and the research team at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center announce the first transfer of embryo history, from one woman to another resulting from live birth. This technique (often used in conjunction with in vitro fertilization (IVF)) can be used in humans or animals, in which situations and goals may change.

 

 

1989 – A military coup ousts Alfredo Stroessner, the dictator of Paraguay since 1954. His 35-year rule, marked by a continuous period of oppression in his country, is the longest in modern South American history. Stroessner ranks 20th longest among national leaders since 1900 and made him one of the longest-serving heads of state in the world.

 

1995 – Astronaut Eileen Collins becomes the first woman to pilot the space shuttle as the STS-63 mission kicks off, from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Collins was the first female pilot and the first female commander of a spacecraft. She was awarded several medals for her work. Colonel Collins has recorded a full 38 days, 8 hours and 20 minutes in outer space.

 

2006 – Vath Koreshi dies, he was an Albanian writer, screenwriter and politician. In 1987 he started working as the director of the Arts Directorate in the Committee of Culture, Youth and Sports until 1991, when he succeeded Preç Zogaj in the office of Minister of Culture. From 1992 to 1995 he directed the magazine “Art” and then became the director of the publishing house “Onufri”. He has written many books, such as “Sako’s Wedding”, “Requiem for a Woman”, as well as many movie scripts. Vath Koreshi was a deputy in the XVI legislature of the Albanian Parliament, and was Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports during 1991-1992.
