Memorie.al /publishes an archival document extracted from the Central State Archive (fund of the former Presidium of the People’s Assembly of the People’s Socialist Republic of Albania), which belongs to the date July 16, 1982, where there is a recorded conversation between the President of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly, Haxhi Lleshi, with the well-known historian, Prof. Dr. Kristo Frashëri. As we will see from the document in question, the historian, Frashëri, went to a meeting in the office of the Presidium of the People’s Assembly, at the request of the President, and the entire conversation between them focused on the rewriting of history, mainly that of the district of Dibra, where Haxhiu was originally from and where he had all his activities, since the time of the Zog Monarchy and the period of the country’s occupation, 1939 – 1944. He asks the historian Frashëri, when he rewrites the history of the War of the province of Dibra, to be very careful and to implement his orders.

NOTES FROM THE CONVERSATION OF FRIEND HAJJI LLESHI
WITH HISTORIAN KRISTO FRAŠĖRI
(on 16.7.1982)
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: So, don’t mess with the Chams, because they were all traitors, almost all of them. No one took Tefta to school, I told them.
We also liberated Kruja, with our own forces. We also had strength from Dibra. We fell with our own forces and not with the Italians. We fought there for three days and three nights. We captured the Germans alive. Comrade Enver was in Arban with Myslym Peza.
And Mehmet Shehu says that the Italians came from Kruja. He talks about the Tent of the Tent and doesn’t say a word about the pearls. Yes, the war could not take place without the people.
The party and Comrade Enver raised the people in their struggle for true freedom. Mehmet Shehu killed 74 people in Myzeqe, people in line, without fault at all. He took it and killed it, Mehmet Shehu had it. Fiqrete Shehu was also a terrorist. He was expelled from the Party during the War.
Yes, friend Enver Hoxha is great, because otherwise…! I did not ask about the Party’s path. Mehmet Shehu did not fight with me, he was very fine. When he was far away, he waved at me. I didn’t give up my place. He was afraid of Enver Hoxha, but he didn’t ask about the others. Except here at the Presidium, it didn’t last. I was getting permission to go to the People’s Council or not.
It went to the liquidation of the consequences of the earthquake in Saranda and that’s how it went. He was a talker, but a clever traitor. It has been dealing with espionage since Spain. Everyone had command, but this one didn’t. It was brave, but not as much as they did. The party almost gave the party, at the end of August 1942. Yes, it was the party, but where was Bektash Cakrani asking about Mehmet Shehu.
With 3,000 forces, we made Stalingrad the Big Dipper, where there were 7,000 Germans. The people fought bravely.
Mehmet Shehu says: We will kill 3,000-4,000 Dibrans.
I say; No, how are we going to kill them?!
Mehmet Shehu claimed to have saved Enver Hoxha, but Enver Hoxha saved himself, broke the siege himself.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Yes, history does not say it like that, but as the truth is.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: He didn’t save them, but the carpenters did. Ndreçi Plasari is not forgiven for this. The war is related to the Party, while he dedicated himself to himself, wherever he wanted to bring out his self.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: History is made by peoples and not by individuals.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Even Vasil Laci was brought out by time, he came out of the people where he grew up and was educated. The job is to follow the people properly, otherwise it will end like Qazim Koculi and Mehmet Shehu, sold everywhere.
Even Neki Starova became with the Italians and the Germans. But we were bound by the ideal. The credit belongs to the Party and Enver Hoxha. Comrade Enver is a follower of Marx, Engels, Lenin and Stalin, on a national and international scale. Great luck for Albania and the world and it is always creating.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: He is creating a lot and teaching us too.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: You will be really careful. Here, in those ‘Unfading Stars’, there are many lies. Even Shahin Dyle Toçi martyr, when it is not so. Why?
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: We will look at the figures as historians.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: They have friends.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Regardless.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Yes, at least he closed it with honor. They made songs for Ejup Cam, as if he were a hero!
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: But they have the right to lie and we don’t have the right to protect him?
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Yes, I have documents until the end of 1943, that he was connected with the enemies.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Yes, we are not interested.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Tefta finds witnesses to say: that he had put the partisan star. The War of Peshkopia is dedicated to Ahmet Cami’s detachment. Yes, this is not right, it does not hold. But who says this, Agim Hila who does tricks.
Pavllo Gjidede once went to Dibër and wrote about Ahmet Cami: he carried the wound in one hand and fought with the other. Hello Pavlo, I told him, why do you write like that?! Yes, Tefta told me, he told me.
You have to be careful when writing, because suddenly you get tired of it. This Frok Çupi, I will write about Councils, he told me. When he wrote, he included Mati and Shkodra, which were good, and not Tirana, which was up to him to criticize. This is what Asim Bedalli did, because Nesipi gave houses to whomever he wanted, with tricks. And in this meeting of the People’s Council, it turned out well. However, problems arose again.
Bread is not made well in the countryside. Why? That there is a lack of attention from the cadres for this important problem for the people. And buildings with voluntary contribution, why are they not moving at the right pace?! That the cadre has a home for itself and does not care about those who do not have a home.
Voluntary contribution work is not going well. Dibra did this job well, when Sula was there as secretary. Jashari also did it in Elbasan, with 4-5-6 storey buildings. But he didn’t want Abdyl Këllezi. It can be done, he said, but only for cities like Beijing and not for others. Like Sula and Jashari, let’s have the first secretaries.
Mehmet Shehu did not agree with this. He did not agree with the line of measures either. I was in district 6, in “Stalin” Combine. None of them had given an account before Mehmet Shehu! Thank goodness it didn’t come, they said. Everyone was afraid of him, except Enver Hoxha and me.
So the Dibra War should go well. The Macedonians did not fight here, but the Dibras, or the Serbs, or the Montenegrins. They could not stay without us for even 24 hours. We were not for chauvinism. We handed over some criminals to them to punish and they turned them against us, like Ferit Maliqin, the sons of Mahmut Perviz. Mahmut was killed in a cave, he was on the run.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: The war in Dibër is unique.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: We fought there for four days and four nights and all the people were with us, no one was against us, including women and children. She wants a chapter of her own. Two prefectures were liberated: Dibra and Peshkopia, and no other. From Dibra e Madhe, no one came against us.
We caught a couple there, but we forgave them, because they hadn’t done who knows what. We held a rally. I spoke. The minister of Zog, who was with us, also spoke. God helps you, he said. Speech and Tempo. He lifted us up into the sky. In the 5th Brigade in Lumë, in Bicaj, we met Fadil Hoxha, with Xhavit Niman, with Baba e Tetova (this one was not good either). I appealed to them, but they were mean. I left for Berat.
When we fought in Dibër e Madhe, a Macedonian brigade also fought with us. We had to fight a big fight. The Germans were brave, let’s face it.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: It is difficult to bring out the Great Dibra War.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Here is your ability to bring it out. Tempo and Tito wanted to make it a joint headquarters. But we did not accept. When I told him, we have our headquarters, you have your headquarters. We took a firm and fast stance. I resisted Tempo. His voice came out again in their Congress. Since then, I have told the Party about Tempo.
Our forces were there, under my leadership, there were no others. We did as our friend Enver told us. Even in our Councils, they could not enter. I had many friends since then. I have been watching the issue of oppression of Albanians since then. Heroic people he. Enver Hoxha was clear. They wanted to make them spies, but the people did not submit to them.
Kosovo has fought for centuries against the Serbs. Even now they were unmasked in their politics. A happy people lives here, but there is a lot of poverty. Yugoslavia has 20 billion dollars in debt, there is unemployment, corruption, and those in politics are whores.
Our country is an example in the world. Comrade Enver’s works are sought by the whole world, communists and revolutionaries all over the world. We are free and peaceful, but Kosovo is full of police, from the UDB.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: When we were in Kosovo, there was not only one policeman, but two by two. Now they wear bulletproof clothing.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: People were afraid. Serbs and Montenegrins are fleeing Kosovo en masse. They want to denationalize the Albanians, but the Kosovars are never denationalized. Albanians never marry Serbs.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Albanian Kosovo has been and will remain Albanian for centuries. She fights for every palm.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: Even the bourgeois press is forced to be with us. Serbs are the danger of Yugoslavia. They have also approached Russia. We must be very careful, because they want to distort our history, with lies, with conjunctures.
Kosovo is not subject. Even this generation that was bloodless, became bloody, entered history. And the cities are increasing with Albanians. A Kosovar told me: they kicked out the gentle Albanians and left these wild ones.
So, you start in September, Kristo?
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Yes, Comrade President. In September, I will start working systematically.
Mr. Haxhi Lleshi: I will help you as much as I can.
Goodbye.
Mr. Kristo Frashëri: Goodbye. Memorie.al
