Memorie.al publishes an archival document extracted from the fund of the former Central Committee of the ALP, which belongs to 1982 and deals with information of the secretary of the basic organization of the party’s editorial office, “Zeri i Popullit”, Fatos Cekodhima, sent to the apparatus of the Central Committee of the ALP, regarding a meeting held there, where the “liberal attitude contrary to the norms and line of the Party”, of its editor-in-chief, Pipi Mitrojorgji, was analyzed and discussed. whose son was the wife of Feçorr Shehu’s daughter. The summary report of that meeting, where the grassroots organization “crucified” the editor-in-chief Mitrojorgji, holding him accountable both for his “enemy of the people” and for his son and his bride, whom he had accepted at home after arrested Feçorr Shehu… ?!
Just a few weeks after the events of December 18, 1981, when Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu was found dead in his bedroom in mysterious circumstances, which still remain completely undiscovered, in all the basic organizations of the Party, Numerous meetings were held in the country, where it was discussed, in the spirit of the speech of Comrade Enver Hoxha, on the “Synoptic Table” for the “enemy and polyagent” Mehmet Shehu “. In all these meetings, among other things, as it is known from a number of documents with the initials “Top secret”, which are found in the Central State Archive (fund of the former Central Committee of the ALP), the Archive of The Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Defense, numerous debaters who have taken the floor there, have made all sorts of accusations, true and false, slander, fabrications, gossip, intrigue, fabrication and all this in the direction and against the former the late Prime Minister, Mehmet Shehu, his family and those who were considered their collaborators, mentioning dozens of names, military, senior officials, etc.
Also, these meetings intensified, especially after October 1982, when the Minister of Defense, Kadri Hazbiu (who for almost three decades had held the delicate post of Minister of Interior), and the Minister of Internal Affairs were arrested. , Feçorr Shehu, where the same picture was repeated with them, as with former Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu. And after these meetings, the committees of the parties of the respective districts, or the basic organizations of the Party, drafted a summary with the “main problems”, which were then sent to the Central Committee of the ALP, providing them Leaders of the leadership that: “that work would continue again in the future”, keeping them up to date, about everything that would come out about the “enemies of the people”, Mehmet Shehu, Kadri Hazbiu, Feçor Shehu and their collaborators . This also happened in the editorial office of the newspaper “Zeri i Popullit”, in 1982, where the basic organization of the Party, headed by its secretary, Fatos Cekodhima, met and discussed the “liberal position” of its editor-in-chief, Pipi Mitrojorgji, whose son (a well-known architect) had as his wife the daughter of Feçor Shehu, who was already arrested in the cells of the “Department 313” of Tirana, undergoing the investigative process and giving an account before his former subordinates, “for hostile activity,” which he was accused of. For more than what was discussed at that meeting of the basic organization of the Party of the newspaper “Zeri i Popullit” of that time, we know the document in question, which Memorie.al publishes for the first time.
Letter sent to the Central Committee for the editor-in-chief of “Zeri i Popullit”
I N F O R M A T I O N
At the usual meeting of the party’s grassroots organization on April 15, after discussing the problem for which he had gathered, the secretary general of the grassroots organization finally announced at the “various” point what the comrade Pipi Mitrojorgji had informed him about. editor-in-chief of “Zeri I Poipullit”, for his cousin, the enemy of the Party and the people, Feçorr Shehu.
Since Comrade Pipi had only at first notified the secretary of the arrest of Feçorrr Shehu, and so far had said nothing to the organization, he was asked to speak on these matters at this meeting of the organization.
He was asked to say “what he had noticed during the acquaintance period he had with Feçorr Shehu”, “why he had not put these things in the Party organization”, and “how can the fact that he was taken home be explained” , son and daughter-in-law.
At the beginning, Comrade Pipi emphasized that it would be better for you to inform me in advance that this issue would be raised at the meeting of the organization, in order to give a more thoughtful answer. However, he answered the questions, the content of which is summarized as follows:
I had a regular relationship with Feçorr Shehu, but not to the extent that I have with the other krushku. During these relationships, I noticed that he was megalloman, arrogant, patriarchal. He has manifested these qualities more, as he has become a minister, I did not like them and that is why we did not have greater affinity.
I did not say these problems to the grassroots organization, as I thought that by informing the secretary of the organization, that was enough. From Feçorri’s arrest, I had no worries, so I had no reason to worry about the grassroots organization.
Taking the bride home, after Feçorri’s arrest, Comrade Pippi explained: “I did this in order to psychologize to what extent my father condemned me, to know what attitude we would take towards marriage, for the boy to carry, or to separate. And after that, we made sure that this family should not be ruined.
The Party organization, calling the answers to some vague questions insufficient, asked Comrade Pippi a series of questions. Their content is this:
As far as you know the enemy Feçorr Shehu, do you have anything to say to the Party organization? And that is your job as a communist to help the Party.
Why did you take your son and daughter-in-law home after Feçorri’s arrest? How do you assess this attitude?
What message did you give the boy to reflect correctly on his party organization?
Even after answering the questions, Pipi basically added nothing more than what he had said before and tried to defend previous opinions.
Thirteen people discussed these issues. The content of the friends’ discussions in general is this:
Everyone called the convicts prone to tendency, which Pipi did not consider necessary to inform the Party organization about this issue, which is contrary to the Party norms, the passive and indifferent attitude towards the organization.
Unanimously, the comrades criticized Pip for taking home the daughter of the enemy of the Party and the people, Feçorr Shehu, immediately after his arrest, as a non-revolutionary but sentimental attitude of softening the class war.
Friends criticized him for his lack of sincerity and inaccuracy towards the party’s grassroots organization, which even at this meeting tried to speak within premeditated frameworks and with contradictory attitudes.
At the same time, the comrades severely criticized Pippin for some work defects, for bureaucratic performances in the method of work as editor-in-chief. Among the main ones here was the several times disregard for the opinion of friends, the lack of sufficient organization’s opinions on the problem of staff, technocratic performances, connections with volunteer correctional agents, he acted with his head, and for changing sections.
At the end of the meeting, Comrade Pipi made some additions, trying to react correctly. He said that I did not judge him with maturity to inform the organization about the issue that was discussed and that taking the son and son’s bride home is a wrong, hasty, irrational attitude from an ideological point of view, both for my function as editor-in-chief of “Zeri i Popullit”, both for my long experience as a communist, as an action that contradicts the social opinion.
The party’s organizations concluded that these wrongdoings of comrade Pipi Mitrojorgji did not correspond to the level of duty as editor-in-chief, so he unanimously decided to propose to the nomenclature to look at his being the editor-in-chief of “Zeri i Popullit”.
