– “Under the name Abedin Beqir Nakoshiri, Myleri is the director of the Western External Section, at the Albanian Secret Intelligence Service and lives in the leadership ‘Block’ in Tirana and at the Hotel ‘Adriatiku’ in Durrës” –
Memorie.al / Around the end of 1963 and the beginning of 1964, some of the largest West German newspapers and magazines, such as “Suddetutsche Zeitung”, “Stern” etc., published a series of articles, which stated that; Heinrich Müller, former head of the Gestapo, Obergruppenführer-SS and General of the Waffen-SS, Chief of the VI (Gestapo) service at the Reich Security Services in Berlin, and Adolf Eichmann’s direct boss, had not died and that from 1945 to 1955, he lived in Moscow, where he worked under the orders of Stalin, Beria, and Malenkov. While from 1955 to 1956, he worked in Budapest and now (1964) he is in the service of the Albanian dictator Enver Hoxha.
Even in the said West German press, from which they were then encouraged to write newspapers and magazines of various Eastern European countries, such as “Veçerniki” of Bratislava in Czechoslovakia, etc., they also gave details about the life and work of the former head of the Hitlerite Gestapo in Albania, where, among other things, it was said that: “The former head of the Gestapo, 63 years old, has been living in Albania since 1956.
He is under the special protection of the dictator Enver Hoxha, in whose service he is today, just as he served Hitler, Himmler, Heindrich, and Stalin. Today, Albania, a friend of red China, benefits from the connections that Heinrich Mueller has with his former SS and Gestapo comrades in the outside world.
His knowledge is highly valued in Tirana. Now his name is Abedin Beqir Nakoshiri, and he has obtained Albanian citizenship. After the publication of this information, he will certainly have to change his identity. Nakoshiri Myler, is the Director of the Western External Section, at the Albanian Intelligence Service. Nakoshiri-Myler lives in the capital Tirana, especially in the largest and hermetically sealed neighborhood, called ‘Block’, where all the high functionaries of the Party of Work of Albania, members of the Albanian government and army live.
Myler lives here, in a luxury building, separated from the center of Tirana, but in a way that is a little more exposed to the rest of the population. But he wants to visit the luxury hotel “Adriatik”, where he tastes French cognac and also always likes “Hennessy” cognac. It was this same brand that was discovered and debunked a year ago, by some of his fellow countrymen, East Germans, who worked as specialists in the Port of Durrës”.
As mentioned above, the writings of the West German and wider European press had a great echo, so much so that, in front of the headquarters of the accredited Albanian embassy in Vienna, Austria, several demonstrations took place, where many protesters called on the government Albanian, to hand over Myler to the relevant West German justice authorities.
Likewise, in the aforementioned articles of the West German press, various analysts called on some heads of state, such as Walter Ulbricht of East Germany, to put pressure on the Albanian dictator, Enver Hoxha, to hand over the former head of Hitler’s Gestapo, Heinrich Muller.
Also, in addition to this, regarding the “Myler case”, many letters were addressed to the official Tirana and the senior leadership of the APS, from the Association of Veterans of the Second World War, of Germany, France, etc., which they asked the Albanian government to provide clarifications regarding the accusations made by the West German press, etc., if the former head of the Hitlerite Gestapo, lieutenant-general, Heinrich Müller, was in Albania. All this forced the official Tirana to react by giving an answer, through the Albanian Telegraphic Agency and the newspaper “Zëri i Populli”
Regarding these, etc. it is known from a series of secret archival documents (long since de-classified) located in the archives of the Albanian state (Central State Archives, Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Archives of the Ministry of the Interior), which are published every first (with the corresponding facsimiles), from Memorie.al., in several of its numbers.

Dear friends
Friends of my association have pointed out to me the attached article, published in the illustrated magazine “Stern” of January 1964 (apparently dated 11.1.). I would be grateful if you could return this article to me.
This article claims that former SS General, Gestapo Chief, Heinrich Müller, who was recently found not to be dead and that a tomb was erected in his memory to mislead public opinion, is alive and well in Albania, with the pseudonym Abedin Beqir Nakoshiri. Before that, he was in the Soviet Union until 1953, and then in Hungary for 15 months.
The article states that the governments of the above-mentioned countries did not know who it was about, and despite this they entrusted him with important tasks. For this reason I am addressing you, as I am of the opinion that war criminals such as Gestapo Chief Müller, whose hands are stained with the blood of millions of victims, should be brought before the court and punished.
It is unacceptable to demand only the punishment of SS murderers who live and operate in the West, these individuals must receive the punishment they deserve, regardless of the fact that they are in a Western or Eastern country.
This article published in “Stern” magazine, very widespread, leads us to draw only two conclusions:
- Or it is not true, and then a rectification must be shown to the magazine and evidence must be given to the editors, that the statements are not true;
- Either the article is true or then it is the duty of the FIR and all the victims’ organizations to fight with all their might so that Gestapo Chief Myler is punished for his crimes. This request must be made with force, and help the authorities, to catch this criminal.
- The article states, among other things, that Mueller’s contact person is the former head of the Gestapo in Vienna, Sanitzer, who lives today in the German Democratic Republic, under the pseudonym Karl Valbach. As far as I know, Sanitzer lives in Salzburg or near Salzburg and a big campaign was started right against him, until the time it was said that; Sanitzer was dead.
You are of course aware of the date of his death, so that this matter can be corrected in “Stern”, this matter can be dealt with by KZ Vrzband. You will understand that this article published in “Stern” cannot leave me indifferent, and that the FIR also cannot agree to say such things.
In my opinion, the Albanian association should first of all take a stand regarding this issue. I will therefore be very grateful if you will keep me informed of the actions you will take on this matter and let me know the outcome.
Brotherly greetings
H. Mayer

Comrade General. Attached we are sending you the translation of the FIR Secretariat’s letter, No. 518/JT/EL/1964 accompanying the letter of the National Federation of Internees and Fighters of the Patriotic Resistance of France, for notification, which talks about the defamation of the pro-fascist magazine “Stern”, of Federal Germany, about which we have brought you to your attention know with the previous materials, related to the FIR letter, dated 28.2.1964.
As it can be seen from the text of the letters, the secretaries of the FIR and mainly of some member organizations have joined the fictions of “Stern”, to discredit the People’s Republic of Albania, in the ranks of the anti-fascist resistance and to undermine the unity of the FIR itself whose leadership has now become a lowly instrument of the politics of modern revisionism.
We propose to you again to respond to the FIR secretariat with a letter, the draft of which we are sending you as an attachment. We think that a copy of the answer will be sent to you for notification to the FIR member associations, and a meeting of it will be published in the press, if you see fit.
Awaiting your decision.
With respect

LETTER OF THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE NATIONAL FEDERATION OF INTERNES AND RESISTANCE FIGHTERS OF FRANCE, JEAN TUZHA, SENT TO THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE OF VETERANS OF ANTI-FASCIST WAR OF THE ALBANIAN PEOPLE
FIR

Dear friends
We had spoken to you in our letter of 28.2.1964 regarding the campaign that is now being carried out against your country, where it is claimed that former SS Myler is part of your Security services. This campaign is ongoing and particularly affects European resistance circles.
It would be very helpful, a clarification from your side, to end this campaign. Enclosed you will find the letter that came to us from France.
Our fraternal greetings.

REPORT – INFORMATION OF THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE COMMITTEE OF VETERANS OF ANTI-FASCIST WAR OF THE ALBANIAN PEOPLE, MAJOR-GENERAL VELI DEDI, ENVOY GENERAL – LIEUTENANT BEQIR BALLUKUT
ALBANIAN PEOPLE’S WAR VETERANS COMMITTEE
No. 19 Prot

TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE COMMITTEE
COMRADE GENERAL COLONEL BEQIR BALLUKU
Tirana
Comrade General.
As you know that the newspaper “Voice of the People”, no. 42, on February 19, 1964, gave the appropriate answer to the Slovak revisionist newspaper “Veçerniki”, which is published in Bratislava, for the spread of slander of imperialism against Albania.
In fact, the resistanceist newspaper “Veçerniki”, as it seems, is a spokesperson for the fascist newspaper “Stern”, of the Federal Republic of Germany, where in its issue of January 30, it wrote the intriguing article; “Cognac betrayed Myler” and; “Does Myler live in Albania”.
However, the FIR secretariat, in letter No. 207/64, dated 28.2.1964, which arrived here on 7.4.1964, is addressed to us, ostensibly to give an answer to the magazine “Stern” in connection with this matter, sending us the original article of fascist magazine “Stern”, that “Chief of the Gestapo Myler lives in Albania”, and the letter of the Tyrolean association, dated 10.2.1964, addressed to the FIR.
Conclusions:
A) According to the characteristics, the article of the fascist magazine “Stern” must have been fabricated by the Belgrade agency against our country and to discredit the name of Comrade Stalin. This is proven by its content and orchestration, by revisionist groups from different European countries.
B) The Secretariat of the FIR, which has become a tool of Khrushchev’s capitulation policy, before American imperialism, commissioned by Khrushchev and Tito’s agents, is turning to us with diabolical intentions regarding the issue of the article in the fascist magazine “Stern”.
Therefore, I propose that we give the FIR and the Tyrol association the answers they deserve by publishing them in the press. Attached are translations of the above documents for your review, as well as an FIR press release defending Rankovic. Awaiting your decision. Memorie.al
With respect
Major General
