Information
In the conversation I had with Marije Luka on 15.XII.1955, regarding the death of Dr. Frederik Shiroka, said: “This is what they say I die without loving you. As long as he was alive a car was not made available to him. Directors of companies that bring nothing to society are driving, while Shiroka had to make the road hospital-home, hospital-Sanatorium by bicycle, with a heart disease. They allowed Dr. Shiroka to do night watch. Here’s how we lost it. These are the people who do not know how to appreciate them. “The Soviets stopped him for another two weeks and praised him as a professor.”
Marija brought the word in order to let me understand that Gjovalini is also a useful person for the society, but that they do not know how to appreciate him.
“Gjovalini was not called to work”, Marija continued, they left me with a salary of 3,800 lek, with four children. I have nothing left to sell. I cannot see him in the house without work. Nails are stuck in my soul, I feel sorry. “Even to sew, no one falls for me.”
Talking about the evenings given in “Dajti” and the Palace of Brigades, I asked Marie to talk to me about her impressions about them. “I do not feel any pleasant conversation. A false spirit pervades the evenings from beginning to end. Say they have gathered to eat. They sit like cattle and just eat think, I saw P.F.’s wife when she was eating on one side and filling the bag on the other. “Even Gjovalini has always remained closed, because he wanted to be opened, because his behavior is being taken as bourgeois”.
One day in a pastry shop, since I did not have any money, Marija paid and I gave her 10 lekë in foreign currency. He did not accept them, saying; not that they found currency for Gjovalin’s father and I bought it with him, they think that he has become part of us.
In the conversation I had with Marie on 21 / XII / 1955, she told me that; the secretary of Gjovalini’s organization had talked to Gjovalini about the minutes kept with shorthand by Haxhi Kroi, when Gjovalini had a conversation with Enver. In the process, it was noted that Gjovalini had mentioned Tuk and had given the impression that he was aware of Tuk’s action in the Central Committee.
However, Gjovalini had said that all those things happened in the process of the disease, the doctor can be asked about this, but with all that, I can discuss after a few months. “As for the article,” Marija continued, “Gjovalini told him that there he expressed his thoughts and the article was written before the disease process, the truth is that he praised the Yugoslavs a little too much, but those are his thoughts.”
Regarding an Aleko that often goes to them, Maria told me that; he must either be very unhappy, or he must be provocative. He is more likely to be a provocateur, so we never give in to his presence, even though he always brings the word to criticism, but Gjovalini waits for him briefly.
For the Albanian representative in the United Nations, Gjovalini said that he is very phlegmatic, he wants an hour to say a word, Maria waited for him that; is Gogo Nushi’s cousin and has worked in the Ministry of Agriculture.
D.m.th., I waited for him, know about the raising of pigs, both man and woman looked at each other and laughed.
They are interested to know who will be appointed in his place, to let them know that they have some hope that they can take Gjovalini to a Legation.

Information
In the conversation I had with Marie Luka, on 23 / XII / 1955, he told me in part about how much they had talked to Marie of Frano Jakova, when this was the first time in Tirana. She had given them a lot of courage, saying: “Our work will soon be resolved because they have intervened from outside.” He had instructed Marie Luka, not to give up, to stay strong, not to complain, in a word not to take anything for granted, but to stay optimistic, it was good to sew “.
“Of course,” added Marie Luka.
I noticed that after the arrival of Marie Frano, Marie Luka had started talking like this: sorry, where do I go all he could give for this Party”?!
Maria e Franos had told them how, Liri Belishova had called Tuk Jakova’s wife, and how he had taken her by surprise in order to get her word out. The desolate woman had initially trusted him and, thinking that she would help her husband, had told him how much she had heard in the house, with whom she had talked about those things. He had only said about Gjovalini that one night they wanted to go to dinner at Tuk Jakova, as well as for the friendship with Qazim Kapsyzi.
However, when Mita Jakova had realized that Liri Belishova was provoking him in order to make him speak, the second time “he had cursed the ‘blind’, and had not left a word without saying it”, she had shot out for the arm and after asking for the Party’s trick, Mita threw the trick at his face. Later in the Party Committee, they criticized Liri Belishova (Marie Luka never calls his wife Liri Belishova by name, but by the surnames ‘qorrja’ or ‘gossip’) because he had acted in that way, on the issue of trisk of the Party.
Marie Jakova was indignant with Qazim Kapsyzi, who was quite cold and did not want to accept him at home, “as if you were not the one who shared all his thoughts with Frano”, she added.
Marie Luka started to tell us how they had done to her in the Central Committee, but she had stayed as a man, she had not exposed the man at all. “They treated me well,” Marie Luka continued, telling me that; I am from a poor family, because I have to help the Party, etc., but she had replied: “I do not know anything about my husband, except for the article, which he submitted to the Party and was not published, as well as that letter written in moments of abnormality. I ask you to tell me; what has my husband done to take all these anti-human measures against his children. “I did not leave anything unsaid,” Maria added.
Maria Franos had told them that they felt sorry for Tuk, rather than for Mita, she still has the Party’s trick and knowing that the letters were opened and photographed, they wrote words to Tuk in order to read them. “These”. And Marie Luka, quotes some phrases of the exchanged letters, such as: “Uncle Tuku, etc.,… etc., you have to be better than us, that you have Mita in the Party, etc.”
Gjovalini is of the opinion that since the names of Tuk and Bedri have not appeared in any article, from those written on that occasion, they have left a path of rehabilitation.
Apparently, this hope makes them take steps to be correct. Show it with work, e.g. Tuku stands out as a worker in his enterprise. Franon was rewarded with money. This made Marie says so, after Mary of Franos left. “I have children; I would have come in as a simple worker, and shown them how the ‘communists’ work.”
Crossing the street, Maria put it this way: “Stinky economic policy. They have exhausted the people for ten years. I spend three or four hundred lekë a day and buy nothing. Xhafer Vokshi says well: “Factories talk, channels talk, barcolology sings”.
Yes, I told him, Xhaferi has a poetic streak. But he also wrote beautifully in newspaper articles against Yugoslavia.
“How remorseful he is,” added Maria.
- He may have repented, but he wrote, I replied.
Apparently, Maria in her brain took stock of her husband’s writings and once replied: “Once Gjovalin was given to write a children’s book (apparently about Tito) and on the one hand wrote, on the other hand, I heard him say; “Introduction yes…”.
On the same day, Marie Luka said this about her friend Enver: “That citizen was found. They say; “They intend to overthrow you and he signs for any action taken.”

During my visit to Liri Gega, on December 26, 1955, I found it encouraging.
“Congratulations to Tuk – he told me – that he was brave. After addressing a protest to the Central Committee and a copy of the Soviet Legation. In protest, he explains the circumstances that forced him to submit to self-criticism and at the same time strengthens his conviction about the written theses. “He even mentions the ‘lampshades’ who decorate Mehmet’s rooms and who cost the people all that sweat.”
Levickin held it for 18 days and replied that; these are not issues in which they can change. It is not known – added Lirija – either they do not mix because they agree with Mehmet, with whom they went hunting, or apparently they say; we do not interfere and in turn take action.
They have made a stinking economic policy – Lirija continues. Take the analysis about the five-year plan that Mehmeti made, when the plan was laid out, you will see how beautifully he divides it into stages, ultra-theoretical speech. Look at the results now; look at the level of the people. Maybe they do not see this, because they themselves have achieved socialism.
Entering Mehmet’s house, they say from the bottom of the stairs to the top of the house, all the carpets, and great contrasts with the poor people. “Now they are making cuts there, reducing payments, here they want to repay” long-term loans “to the Soviet Union, and they want to get them out from the people.”
- I told him: The Soviet Union forgave Yugoslavia the loan, it can forgive us too.
- “No – he did not answer – he forgave Yugoslavia, because it knows how to do politics”
Then Liri Gega started talking to me about the economic situation in Yugoslavia:
“50% of the land in Yugoslavia has been collectivized, which was achieved in the Soviet Union only in 1937. Today in Yugoslavia, there are 1 million or as many cooperatives and various collective associations.”
“I understood one thing, that Xhaferr Vokshi must have spoken to him after reading Tito’s speech, or articles in the Yugoslav press, as he mentioned me several times, that he had read these things in our press.“Memorie.al
