By Hamza Kazazi
I read in Memorie.al the letter published by Dashnor Kaloçi and received from the Central State Archive of Tirana, Letter to Ramiz: “How Arshi Pipë’s family and their connections with the Dani, Boletini, Bekteshi, Bushati, Ulqinaku tribe gathered in Tirana, etc.”.” – Denunciation by the War Veteran. There is also Kazazi, my family name. Search the internet and read the letter. Other media outlets have also published it from here.
I am writing a little long and I will explain and analyze why I felt obliged and specially to know and deepen the young and the old to explain to you what has happened in our country in a recent past and what it has done dictatorship with its servants. The letter reminded me of what I had experienced with thousands, tribes, many friends and a large number of Albanians. It proves where communist morality reaches, the criminal act of “class war” that the dictatorship has continued until the end and moreover where it reached and how it became the so-called “young man”.
I have said and I will say whenever the opportunity arises that that war in peacetime was a terrible crime because it massacred and persecuted completely innocent people like children, parents and relatives of compatriots who killed them and imprisoned them because they had other ideas they wanted freedom and democracy. For this they were called “enemies of the people.” I also emphasize that even those who waged that war, have participated in the crime and the one who participates, becomes a criminal. This is how the law considers it. The families of those convicted of murder, rape or theft called “ordinary” had very few consequences in their treatment.
I will give the name, because they are only the initials B… XH… and I think it is right to write the names in any case. People need to know what happened and how people acted. I feel sorry for the heirs, that they will feel sorry for you and they are not to blame, but they should not forget how we were treated for almost 50 years and did they think of us and did they feel sorry for the innocent? Our massacres were not condemned, but should be known.
Veteran Bahri Xhabija wrote a letter to Ramiz Alia on January 26, 1982, when more than 37 years had passed and in a way the class war against our side was softened even though the dictator and communism were eating its own people. It was the time after Mehmet Shehu killed himself (the official version) or was killed. The “mother party” demanded information from all organizations in Albania about hostile activity, that is, anything that discredited it, and it “discovers” connections with “enemies” like us.
The veteran after so many years and at a considerable age had his right to remain a communist, but not a fanatic and ready to destroy the lives of all those families, that is, of many people. He wrote: “But even though I am sick at home, my mind works and connects many things, as I think the class struggle, maybe I can be wrong, because I understand so much, I have so much horizon, but I want to tell the Party, that is what the Party and comrade… have taught us.”(we know which friend). So, this person wanted to incriminate innocent people.
The veteran responded to the party’s call to find everything related to Mehmet Shehu for the unmasking and to justify his sentence. The issue with the beating was the “bad biography” of the boy’s bride. These things were well known, but he “discovered” maliciously connections with the Pipa family and families who had unrelated connections and adds some who had no connection. Here he also lists us Kazakhs, Boletins, etc.
He “denounces” the family of Silva Turdiu who was engaged to Mehmet Shehu’s son and their connections with “dangerous enemies”. Silva was a good girl in all directions, intelligent, very good volleyball player, she played with “Dinamo”, so not considered with a bad biography, the daughter of the honored university professor Qazim Turdiu and Asime Pipa, also that woman lady, but they found out that “she had a very big guilt” and she had to pay her and her whole circle because she had uncles and aunts, “enemies of the people”, Prof. Arshi Pipa and Lawyer Myzafer Pipa, so Silva “was guilty”. It was also paid by the cousins and this was the principle of class warfare.
Arshiu (1920 -’97), a personality of our nation as a philosopher, writer, literary critic, publicist and university professor, after being released from prison escaped and arrived in the US. He took his sister Feime with him. Brother Myzaferi (1914-’46) bravely defended the prisoners, especially anti-communist intellectuals and priests. He resisted ignorant and criminal chief judges and prosecutors, so they arrested him in 1946 and killed him in the investigator, after horrific torture. He says that he was married (but in fact as engaged) to Drita Kosturi, a political prisoner. Drita was one of the first communists, idealists, the fiancée of Qemal Stafa and then she was associated with Myzafer, she spent 13 years in prison from 1946 and almost spent her life in exile, until 1988.
He writes that there were workers in the brick factory (where he was director), the sister of Myzafer and Arshi (Nedret) and the daughter of the aunt (uncle) Asimen with the sister (must have been Gjylteri). Those young girls, with intellect, worked manual labor which was very heavy for men as well. My mother also worked there for some time. Whereas when I finished high school, I was not given a job there or in construction, but I was told that I only met on the farm. For Asima’s brother, Luani says that he studied economics (but in fact electrical engineering was very good) and it seems to me that he worked in Tirana and now in Durrës and married a daughter of the Turdiu family (in fact the wife had nothing to do with the Turdiu family).
Asima’s third sister was Gjylteri, who had a brick factory, but in Tirana she worked as a laborer and did engineering at night. In 1961 there was some softening. She married Dr. Isuf Hysenbegas, who had been imprisoned, enjoyed extraordinary respect and went to Vlora. She does not talk about the other sister Fiqreti because there was no reason, since her husband did not have a “bad biography”.
The veteran also starts with the next generation. He says that the nephew of the Pipejs, Hans (Hasan) Bekteshi, who is the grandson of Professor Selaudin Bekteshi, is the son of Teofik Bekteshi, who at the time of fascism, was the chairman of the fasco in Shkodra. I will immediately explain the slander against my uncle Teofik, why we know well and have documents. We do not want to remove them, nor do we want to add anything. After the Saverian College in Shkodra, he graduated from the Trade Academy in Graz and Vienna, graduated from the Faculty of Economics in Strasbourg, France in 1928. He knew German and French well and spoke Italian and Serbo-Croatian. He wrote in the magazine “Djalëria”.
In 1929-35 he was elected a member of the Shkodra Municipal Council, actively contributing to economic, cultural and sports life. From those who went to the prefect and demanded weapons to ambush the invaders and distributed letters against the invasion. It was written late in the Fascist Party to secure jobs, as well as many communists. He was appointed a fiduciary, distributing aid to the poor without pay. In 1940 he married Lumnije Pipa, also “guilty” as Asima’s second sister. In 1942-43 he was elected Mayor of Elbasan, because he had the necessary experience and education. In June 1943 – August ’44, as an economist, he was a member of the State Council in Tirana. If we talk about this, they have been members of this council since the first President Omer Nishani and deputies and personalities of communism, and the majority members even the “black lady”. They had no consequences, on the contrary. He has been engaged in economic studies, especially in the field of agrarian policy.
Teofiku in 1946 was one of those who submitted a protest memorandum to English General Hodgson, on behalf of the Shkodra intellectual opposition, for which he was arrested and sentenced to 5 years in prison, and after his release from prison he was again persecuted and interned for 5 years in Kuç, Vlora. They did not want to present this accusation in his file. He has been accused of having days for the Postriba Uprising, but it is not true. My father Jup Kazazi had a sister husband and that was not a little. He admitted that he did not like communism or English democracy, where the House of Lords decides, that is, not the people, and that he liked the French one. Some sheets have a name and surname written by him on the side and we know the writing, but the signature clearly does not belong to him. That’s what his son Hans and I say for sure.
This is very significant proof that the minutes of the investigations, but also of the trials have been signed by the investigators themselves or after torture and in a state of shock. This is known and has been stated by many convicts. Investigators and their bosses, the veteran’s friends, tortured Teofik a lot, hit him on the head with an iron, broke his skull, fortunately without damaging his brain, and left him as a channel in the skull. Having an Austrian and French university, he was “suitable to work as a construction worker and to become a skilled blacksmith”. He died at the age of 60 in 1965, so his life was shortened.
I am passing where I left it, to Hasan (Hansi) because the veteran wants to destroy him too. He denounces that the Engineer is finished and has worked in the camps of the enemies of the party of the people, and that we have not had anyone else? Hans, an excellent pupil and student, was named from his biography in Bulqiza. There were prisoners working in the mine but it had nothing to do with them and was there a more isolated and remote place? So, it was at the peak of “vigilance”. Hasan was briefly called Hans, by the famous Austrian surgeon Hans Epinger, who operated on Lumnija stones in the tamth, where she was pregnant.
He informs that the district of pipes also includes Sheuki Dibra, a doctor in the USA. (so, blame) with brother Dr. Ibrahim Dibra (wrong name spelled Bashkim), dentist, graduated in Austria and does not know that he was the director of Dental Clinic No. 2 in Tirana and his brother Xhabiri, dentist in Shkodra. Dr. Abraham had a wife, Iqbal, Asima’s older sister. Consequently, they had to pay it too.
The fanatical veteran of the perpetrator, is caught and finds the connection with the circle of Prof. Selaudin Bekteshi, where I also belong, after the wife of my uncle’s brother, Teofik, was Lumnije Pipa. He says that prof. Bekteshi has his own merits and should be treated as he has been treated, but he does not consider it right for all his sisters to be in Tirana under his shadow: the wife of Jup Kazazi (my mother), the wife of Maliq Bushati, the wife of Qazim Ulqinaku (a great merchant in Shkodra) and the wife of Adem Boletini, who was killed in the assassination attempt against Major Ndreca in Shkodra, during the occupation, and the assassination was led by Vasil Shanto.
The work of prof. Bekteshi, his humanity and courage, who saved his grandchildren, has been highly appreciated by those who knew him and some communists, but not bad-tempered people like him. The veteran criminal wants my mother and my sister and everyone else to leave Tirana. It is known that the shooting was internment. He was not satisfied with the killed prisoners we have, as few families in Albania, but he wants to take revenge on us as well. Do you perceive his action for everything I write? My sister was taken by my uncle when she was little, she stayed in Tirana, I worked on the streets, I did not have a passport, but I had a shelter and usually came on Sundays and my mother came late.
Aunt Adile came early with her sons Enis and Isa Boletini, until they settled on their own. I will explain that in 1956 the census was done and it was done with the “famous passport” who was living at that time. My mother and I stayed in Shkodra. You cannot live in another country without a passport. They made me mbs for many years and removed me after 6 months in 1974 and it was something very heavy.
He talks about Qazim Ulqinaku with his aunt Fahrije and his children, because according to their theory as a merchant he was an enemy and “drank the blood of the people”. They were not in Tirana, but in addition to imprisoning him and taking everything from him without having anything political, they first took them to the Llakatund farm and then settled in Vlora.
The evil veteran has come out on the path, as they say, for a very important and well-explained driving until today, like the crime of the murder of Adem Boletini, and it is the case that I will solve it and I will prolong it a little, but it is necessary. He slanders Adem, the son of Isa Boletin, and praises the murder of his communist comrades by viciously distorting the truth. So even in 1982 he is satisfied with the murders they committed and greedy why he wants to take his wife Adilen in his old age, with two sons with family (9 people).
There is something very valuable about the truth, which we know for sure, they have said and he is not wrong, because it shows that the assassination was ordered by Vasil Shanto. He denounces that: “In Tirana was also the wife of Adem Boletini, who was killed in the assassination attempt against Major Ndreca in Shkodra, during the occupation, the assassination was led by Vasil Shanto. In the communiqué that had been issued for this assassination, the name of Adem Boletini was put by order of Vasil Shanto. This communiqué was printed by me with Arif Gjyli and Gjush Gjoni. But a few years ago, the name of Adem Boletini was removed from the plaque at the place of the murder, leaving only the name of Major Ndreca, which is not a good thing, and I was told by some friends that the removal of the name was done by order of the Central Committee”.
He also says that Ademi was a lieutenant colonel and that the party called you (misspelled: called him) during the N.Çl. War. – I will explain it below.
The following is the truth
In 1912 16-year-old Adem Isa Boletini came with his father with 400 Kosovars to Vlora for the independence of Albania. Went in 1913 with Isa, Ismail Qemali, etc., with the delegation in London and is in photography. He attended high school in Vienna and the Military Academy in Modena, Italy. As an academic he was mobilized and fought as an officer in the Italian army, against Austria-Hungary. He was the real commander of the “June Movement” 1924 fighting against Zog in Shkodra. Rexhep Shala was his commander, but Ademi led the fighting directly.
Although he was with the opposition and fled to Boletin, Zogu forgave him and gave him the rank of major and then lieutenant colonel, as well as others. He was the commander of the Officers’ School and the Tirana Garrison. When the Italians landed, he and his troops reached Vora, but it was too late. In April 1939 the important English newspaper “Times” published its statement against the Italian occupation. At first, he was interned for a short time, but then he was given the rank he had in the army, like almost all officers, and he had no important role.
During the occupation there were no more than a few functions of communism. He wanted to organize a military force to protect the northern ethnic borders of our country from the Slavs. He was not politically close to either “Ball” or “Legality”. Adem was asked by the communists to become the commander of the National Liberation Army before Spiro Moisiu, but he refused. That was enough for them not to forgive her. Spiro Moisiu has spoken very well and respectfully about Adem as a former colleague, even with Enis. As far as I know, my son, the former President of the Republic, Alfred Moisiu, knows this and I do not believe that he denies it.
The assassination, the truth and the slander of the veteran: The communists, that is, the Shkodra district, had prepared the assassination of the gendarmerie major Ndrec Prenga. The assassination was organized by Vasil Shanto on November 3, 1943, this is confirmed by Bahri Xhabija. We know very well that it would only be done against the major by passing a truck from which they would shoot. Vasili belonged to the Central and Main Committee, while the Shkodra Regional Committee, such as Arif Gjyli, Zija Dibra, dr. Jorgji Karamitri and Nikola Fanku, were for the assassination but were under it.
A little while ago, a man from Shkodra came to Adem’s house, who had a small truck, worked and lived with him, and he was blocked for violating the rule. He asked Major Ndreca to ask him to release him, because he lived with him, and told him that after about an hour, the major was crossing the boulevard in the center. He leaves the house, sees that he was passing right in front of the “Big Cafe” with him and meets him. After a while they pass by the truck, shoot and kill them both.
Asllan Lici was the driver and, as far as we know, Sejdi Miloti shot. It is he, if he was the Deputy Chief of Security in Fier, who killed his boss in the office out of jealousy and killed himself or was killed and buried in a garbage cart. They wrote that Reshit Rusi and Avdo Dervishi were also in the group of assassins and were in the car when they fired. We do not know the two names, they did not say it and it is not logical that there were four people in the small cabin, but there were two people from the group on bicycles who came and went and communicated with Vasil Shanton.
They went to Vasili twice and told him that he had been stopped and was talking to Adem Boletini, why they did not want to kill him either. Vasili gave the order to shoot. And it is not true and fantasy, as they have written, that Vasili was inside the Cafe dressed as a priest, nor that the assassination took place inside the Cafe. This is also illogical and we know very well that Vasili was not there. He ran from a distance and did not see them. It was a coincidence that Ademi came out and met the major.
They will say that I am speaking against the “Hero of the People”. It is not so, why I am telling and explaining the truth. Vasil Shanto (Shantovic, when they came to Shkodra), was a philosopher, a member of the Central Committee and was the person who communicated and brought instructions and orders from them. He was ready to kill an anti-Slav of a family with many slaughtered by the Slavs since the first Isa and his sons. I judge him and it has been said that if he had survived, after the break with Tito in 1948, he would certainly not have agreed and would have paid with his life as an “enemy of the party”. This is what his brother-in-law, Colonel of the Ministry of Interior, Petro Bullati (formerly Bulatovic) paid.
Bahri Xhabija lies about the communists’ statement after the assassination and Vasil Shanto did not name Adem. Instead, they fired a tract and apologized for his murder. They also had a wreath at the funeral. Then and later it was said by old communists, one of them Arif Gjyli, former head of the Circular, who told Prof. Bekteshi, that: they were completely against that murder, they had nothing to do with Adem and this act has extremely ruined your work in public.
Even for the plaque they put in Shkodra for the assassination, the veteran lies worse. We know and Arifi told him with regret that Rrustem Sykja did it, when he became the chairman of the veterans and that he wanted to earn points with these fanatical ways, why he was not even a veteran and that during the occupation he was asked to hold a meeting in his house and refused in fear. Guess how much he had fought! We know for sure and he also told Dr. Sitki Bushati, and others also Enis and Isa.
The plaque for the assassination near “Kafes Madhe” had only the name of Major Ndreca and “an officer of fascism”, but in Shkodra they knew who it was talking about. Then our uncle, Selaudin Bekteshi, together with Enis and Isa Boletini went to their aunt Ajetja, in Kavaja and she wrote a letter to Enver Hoxha about which he was interested in giving it to the secretary. He, the “big one”, urgently called Foto Çami, the first secretary in Shkodra, told him how this could happen to Adem, Isa Boletini’s son, and by order they immediately removed the plaque that evening. The veteran knew that by order of the Central Committee of the ALP, but did not know that he was from the eldest at all. This plaque brought good news for Enis and Isa Boletini, because on this occasion their order was given and their biography was finally revealed.
The murder of the veteran Bahri Xhabija was not enough, but he also has it with Adem’s wife, Adile and his sons. I have said even higher that she denounces that she is the sister of Professor Bekteshi and that “she was the president of fascist women and developed activities with some other women” and that her son of Adem, Dr. Enis Boletini “we went abroad”. First, he fabricates for Adilen whom he turns out to be an activist. She spent 5 years in prison mainly because she constantly cursed the communists, that ‘they are killing the best people in our country’ and that is the truth.
This does not work out, why there were other charges. Courses Dr. Enis, capacity in his Medical profile and was invited to congresses, his biography was clarified and while he was abroad, he was approved by the Ministry of Interior, but he wanted to be more vigilant than everyone. The veteran also writes about Bajazit Boletini, Adem’s brother, that he was a major officer of Xhafer Deva and that he came to suppress the National Liberation War. Bajaziti, an academic officer has been like other officers in the Albanian Army in Kosovo. Other Kosovars came to Shkodra and not him. He was anti-Slavic and anti-communist because he wanted Kosovo with Albania, as the Boletins tried and ended his life in emigration.
Myslim Bajgora came to Shkodra with Kosovars and made a reprisal for the murder of Adem, they had stated, but I have no information. I know for sure that my father, Jupi, had said that ‘Vasili deserves to be killed’, someone could have appointed him, but he left him and said: “We are not for fratricide and we are not murderers like them”. Someone has said that the February 4 killings were for the murder of Adem. It is not true at all; 3 months had passed. Those murders that have multiplied them were done because they found out about the organization of an assassination attempt on Xhafer Deva and killed his nephew.
I write convinced of the truth why I had Enis and Isa Boletini as big brothers, we spent many years together and the difficulties of life and we know the things lived with family and from our circle and friends. We also have the sayings of the communists.
I am continuing again according to the ranking of the “loyal party” veteran.
He says without any reason and without connection that the fathers of Asima with 3 siblings and Arshiu with 3 siblings, one a pharmacist and the other a lawyer, are originally from Gjirokastra, like Xhevat Selfo, who is married to Dan Hasani’s daughter. (Xhevati, brother of Syrja Selfos who had the dictator’s cousin and kept him in his house, gave him money and opened the Flora bookstore, but he shot him).
He dismisses the Danes in vain, he had no connection with the Pipa family, and I do not understand where he was angry with them and why he wanted to confuse them in this matter. Xhevat Selfos’s wife, Fetija, had brother’s economist Qemal Dani who went to Canada, and doctor Dr. Hasan Dani with residence in Monte Carlo, Austria and USA. They had finished their studies in Austria and did not return to Albania, ie economic emigrants, while the veteran considers them enemies. The younger brother, Xhelal, was sentenced to 9 years for “agitation and propaganda” without any guilt, just because they took the brothers, he lived better than most came out in 1987. Their elder brother Xhevat, the veteran has forgotten. That economist studied in Austria, has spent about 10 years in prison mainly as the grandson of Riza Dani.
Introduces with the Pipa family to Daut Hasin, a fugitive in the US. but returned regularly and accepted in Albania after many years, why his brother from his father, Pipejt, had an aunt’s son! He had nothing political. Even in this case, he “discovered” something new.
If the letter was sent to the Security for implementation, many families would be interned, so they would be taken by the dozens and dozens of innocent people who would end up in the villages of Myzeqe where, in addition to isolation, they would be massacred at work. heavy in the field and in bad huts. How would the little ones grow up? As an opinion about the “veteran” Bahri Xhabija, I was told by acquaintances in Shkodra, that he was a fanatical communist, ready to hurt those he continued to call enemies and that you were terrible at writing letters, as well as the communists they were afraid of him. I have no evidence for this, so it remains with reserve.
Dear readers, think calmly, deepen and judge for yourself./Memorie.al
