– The investigative file of 1947, with the reports of the State Security, for all the movements of the former minister of Zog, from the day of his arrival in Tirana, on October 1, 1945, until his arrest, in May 1947! –
Memorie.al / Mirash Ivanaj, former Minister of Education and then senior adviser to King Zog, after many years on the run, returned to his homeland on October 1, 1945. The communists had taken power and he, as a close person of the King, could not be easily rehabilitated. On the contrary, he was put under the surveillance of the Security people, from the first hours he just set foot in Tirana. The first report resulting from the materials of the former State Security belongs precisely to the first day of his arrival in Tirana. Even the time is marked. Mirash Ivanaj, had arrived in Tirana, coming from Yugoslavia, exactly at 12 noon. All his movements’ open and secret meetings were recorded day after day by State Security employees.
Numerous reports grouped by topic or people involved were analyzed in the offices of the Investigation, immediately after his arrest. These reports (some of which are repeated) are stored in Mirash Ivanaj’s investigative file. We present some of them below, creating the real picture of the interception of this well-known intellectual, in the period before his arrest

Today at 12 o’clock, the former Minister of Education, Mirash Ivanaj, arrived in Tirana from Yugoslavia, who took a seat at the “Continental” Hotel. Gjergj Kokoshi and Nikolla Ivanaj, the son of Mirashi’s uncle, a writer living in Tirana, visited him at the hotel.
At 6 o’clock, Mirash Ivanaj, accompanied by Gjergj Kokoshi and Nikola Ivanaj, went to the N/Prefectural Committee to meet Ali Baki. It is known that Ali Bakiu has great admiration for Ivanana and a great friendship.
After they didn’t find him there, they headed to the Prefecture center, where Ali Bakiu was participating in a meeting, from where he was expelled and met at the entrance gate of the building. There they talked for several minutes and a friend of ours tells us that he heard the words; “On the Basic Statute”. It is under observation, very conspiratorial.

REPORT ON THE OBSERVATIONS WHICH HAVE BEEN MADE TO MIRASH IVANAJ
Mirash Ivanaj has been seen going to “Continental”, although he has been away for three days. This one has temporarily entered a house, until his house is freed, where he has installed ustallars, to repair and paint it. His close friends are Ali Bakiu and Sali Tagani, from Tirana. The new house belongs to Sali Tagan, on “Rrugan e Dibra”. With the date 8 km. he was in Saliu, he was called here for lunch, to Rauf Fico, where he stayed until 2 o’clock, after lunch.
From here he went back to Sali Tagan’s house. From the house of Rauf Ficos, no one else was seen to come out, but he was seen to accompany him to the house, but a son of that house, during this day, has not left here. With 9 km., he left the house at 9 o’clock and headed for Pazar, on the way he met Mustafa Demner, talked with him for 15 minutes and parted ways.
When he got down to Pazar, he went from New Tirana to his brother’s house, but he didn’t stay there either, he came to Pazar, ate bread and went straight to Saliu’s house. Along the way, to salute, he salutes a lot, makes movements on many roads, but does not stop at any place.
At 10 km., after leaving the house at 10.45, he went to the Public Notary, on Ish-Mbretnore street, where he talked with Jonuz Tafaj, for 15 minutes, from here he went to the State Bank, there he did not even nothing, but I looked around the Bank and went out, ate bread and headed home; in Pazar, he met Selman Stërmas, with whom he accompanied all the way home, from where he never left.

REPORT ON THE GOOD MOVEMENTS OF IVANaj
With the date 3 km., at 9.30, Mirash Ivanaj left the Hotel and headed for “28 Nëndori” street, at that time (on the street) he received a letter from the Prime Minister’s Office, delivered by a servant. After singing it, he continued down the road, looking at the shop windows.
You crossed the street “28 Nëndori”, continued the street of Dibra and came out on the Boulevard. At 10 o’clock on the Boulevard, he met the son of Afiz Ali Korça, who was in prison and has now been released.
At 10.10, he entered the Ministry of Education and left the Ministry at 10.30. From here, he crossed again to “28 Nõntori” street and entered Ali Kaçeli’s, talked a little with Alina and went to Sahat, to Filip Ujka (mechanic). Talked there for 30 minutes. From here he went to the Hotel, from where he never came out, even though he was waiting until recently.

On the 4th of km., you were seen walking on “Rr. of Dibra”, together with Sali Tagan, at 10:30 a.m., Saliu is from Tirana and previously worked as a treasurer in the Municipality here. After parting, Mirashi headed to the guesthouse where he is staying.
Yes, on the above date, Mirashi met with Muhamet Hoxha, the former director of the Technical School here, on the Big Boulevard, who does not have a good attitude towards our Movement. After walking for a while with Mirashi, they parted and Mirashi later goes back to the hotel where he is staying.
Muhameti, after being separated from Mirashi, meets Gjergj Kokoshin and after they talked while walking, he parted in different directions. In the hotel where Mirashi lives (“Continental”), it is seen that there are many men and women who meet him, the people speak well of him.

ON THE GOOD MOVEMENTS OF IVANAYT
With the date 4 km., at 8:15 a.m., he went to “Continental”, named Ramazan Kaçeli, who met with Mirashi, after sitting for a while, the two of them rode together, talked on some shopping walks, at 8:5 a.m., they sat down at Cafe “Savoja”, where they stayed for 10 minutes, from here they went to Kaçeli’s store, Mirashi did not stay here, but went straight to the Library, while Ramazan Kaçeli stayed in the store. From the library, he went out at 10 o’clock, where he met Sali Taganin, walked with him until 11:30.
After leaving him, he went straight to the Hotel. He left at 5 o’clock in the afternoon, going straight to the Ministry of Culture, where he stayed for almost 20 minutes. From the Ministry, he went straight to “Former Mussolini Boulevard”.
On the street he met Nicholas Ivanana, they accompanied him to the Catholic church, there he turned back and went to the Hotel, from where he immediately left, took a few walks alone, without meeting anyone and went back to the Hotel (it was 8 o’clock) and it didn’t come out anymore.
With the date 5 km., at 7.30 Ali Bakiu came and they talked for half an hour and left at 8. Then Muhamet Hoxha, former Director of the Technical School, who had a friendship with Mirashi at that time, talked with him for half an hour. From this time until 12.15, no one came.
At 12.15, Gjergj Kokoshi came and met with him. He entered Mirash’s room and after talking for 15 minutes, he left. He also had meetings with Sali Tagan, to whom he also went to his house, and he hung out with Musa Petrela, the son of Shaqir Petrela.
With the date 6 km., he met Gjergj Kokoshin on the street by chance, but they broke up immediately. On this date, Gjergji met with Llazar Treska and Prof. Lonnie Kriston. On this date, Mirash Ivanaj was invited to Sali Tagani for lunch (at home), where they stayed until 11:30. It was learned that Gjergj Kokoshi was also called, but nothing was seen to come in or out.
On this date, Ali Bakiu called Mirashi, who was not there, so Ali Bakiu came to meet him personally, but again he did not find him in the room. We add that these elements who meet with Gjergj Kokoshin, have been seen many times sitting in the office of Ing. Xegës, as Eng. Llazar Treska, Prof. Loni Kristo e, Niko Konda.

On the 7th of km., Mirash Ivanaj left his house at 10.30, I went to the Waterworks offices after the SEM here, and there he met with the person in charge, who is a Russian engineer, whose attitude is said to be not it has been good. The engineer in question has been in Albania for some time, having fled from Russia, since the time of the Revolution.
As Mirashi fled from here, in front of the State Bank, he met an unknown woman, who gave him a letter for him to sing. From here, he goes to Sali Tagan’s house, where he stays for an hour; from here he goes to Hem Kellezi’s shop, no. “28 Under”, where he stayed for half an hour, I take him to his house.

On the other hand, they said that after Ivanaj, Qemal Butka, Dalip Zavalani, Avdyl Zalo Geçoja are also expected to come, and then we will see about the formation of a group, for the elections. For those who are waiting, they say that they are well-known anti-fascists and that our Government has nothing to say. The reaction has hope that even from our ranks, there will be many who will come out openly in their favor. If we believe the words that were extracted from a conversation with the dentist Hasan Jero, we must take into account that the reaction awaits the elections with “avidity”, which means, with a lot of thirst and impatience.
One thing is true: Clear and frequent movements of well-known reactionaries and their slogans are seen, connecting them with the current situation, with the non-recognition of the government, and with the policy that the country must make, to become the English like it.
900 – From the surveillance carried out on him from 12-16/II/1947, the following movements were found: During the day, he did not make any movements or meet with suspicious elements. This one, when he leaves the house, goes straight to school, and when he leaves here, he takes a walk in the market and returns home again.
Since he has been under surveillance for a long time, he has not been seen to meet anyone outside, and he does not even salute those he knows without being saluted by them before.
On 16/II/1947, I left home and went straight to Sali Tagan’s house, “R”, street Vll. Huta No. 119; he used to go to this house some time ago, because he has an old friendship with this one. He stayed here until 12:30 and together with Sali, left the house, where after a few walks to the market, he separated from Sali and headed home.
From what we have ascertained, during the entire time that we have been under surveillance, it is very guarded from meetings with suspicious elements outside, while at home, from the information we have had from time to time, movements have been made, but these are very conspiratorial and as far as we understand, prepared. From now on, the surveillance will be done only in terms of the house, after moving outside, nothing is coming out, during the whole time it has been under surveillance. Memorie.al
