Memorie.al/publishes some unknown parts from the investigative and judicial file of the re-conviction of Pjetër Arbnori during the period he was serving his sentence in Burrel Prison in 1979, where the district prosecutor of Mat, Rexh Meta, based on the depositions of some accomplices Arbnori, as well as his interrogation by the investigator of the Internal Affairs Branch of that district, Jani Kolezi, as well as the act-expertise of the investigator Sofokli Afezolli against the manuscript books that Pjetër Arbnori secretly wrote in the cells of that prison , has filed the case in Burrell Court. All the depositions and accusations of Arbnor’s accomplices, such as JZ, B.Ç., MK, Gj.L., etc., regarding the debates and conversations they had had with him while serving his sentence, where he had spoken to them about : The October Revolution, the Cultural-Proletarian Revolution in China, Marxism-Leninism, Socialism, America, France, England, Lenin, Stalin, the senior leadership of the ALP and Enver Hoxha, the overthrow of the communist regime in Albania, etc.
“While witness B.Ç., talking about our popular power, said that: ‘These people lie in their press and newspapers’. But the fierce enmity of this defendant with our popular power is openly expressed in his desire to overthrow our popular power, saying to witness JZ, that: ‘You and your uncle will be accountable to us, for this very thing you defend this system ‘, or when you advise the witness MK, that’ Do not bow to these, we have the future, therefore you must prepare others’. From the evidence gathered in the investigative file emerges many other hostile conversations conducted by the defendant, or his ideas and views, but which together with the other material collected in the investigative file, with his attitude from the enemy to the investigator, prove not only the accusation against the defendant Pjetër Arbnori, but his being as a sworn enemy until the end of this popular power “.
This is stated, among other things, in one of the reports of the Mati district prosecutor, Rexh Meta, dated April 30, 1979, where he reports on the investigations carried out by the district’s investigation against the prisoner Pjetër Arbnori, who at that time was in Burrell Prison, where he was serving a 25-year sentence given in 1962, accused of wanting to form a Social Democratic party. What else is said about the charges against Pjetër Arbnor at the time in Burrel Prison and who were the prisoners who agreed to testify against him? What had Arbnori written in his novel “The Half-Left House” and how were the parts of that book commented by investigator Sofokli Afezolli in the act-expertise made by him which re-sentenced him for another ten years? How was the prisoner Pjetër Arbnori protected from the accusations made against him at that time and what did he write in the letters he sent from prison to the General Prosecutor, Prime Minister Mehmet Shehu, and in 1986, to Ramiz Alia? With all these archival documents that Memorie.al publishes for the first time, we will get acquainted starting today.
The indictment that re-convicted Pjetër Arbnori
Indictment against the defendant Pjetër Arbnori.
He is accused of propaganda and agitation against the party and our popular power, a crime provided by Article 73/1 of the repealed criminal code.

Mati District Prosecutor
Rexh Meta
The investigator of the Mat Branch of Internal Affairs, has recently investigated the criminal case for the crime of agitation and propaganda against the popular power, provided as a crime by article 73/1, repealed, the defendant Pjetër Arbnori has been arrested and arrested, serving his sentence in ward 321 Burrel.
The investigation of the criminal case proved the following:
Defendant Pjetër Arbnori in 1961 was sentenced to 25 years in prison (deprivation of liberty) for the crime of treason, a sentence he has been serving for several years in ward 321 Burrel.
The sentence given to the defendant was also intended to correct him from the hostile path, where he had entered to the detriment of the interests of the homeland and the people. However, the defendant during this period not only failed to make such a correction, but continued on his hostile path, committing this time in conditions of isolation in this ward the crime and agitation of hostile propaganda against the party of popular power.
In carrying out these hostile intentions the defendant developed it not only orally, directly to the questioned witnesses, but also by writing a novel of several regimes, which he allegedly wrote “for his literary pleasure”. This way is also the main form used by the defendant to carry out this hostile activity, as in this way he is given the best opportunity to express his inner world, his reactionary, religious ideas with a hostile word.
Thus, from the act of expertise performed by the expert Sofokli Afezolli, (former journalist and now director of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” Theater in Durrës), it is clear these hostile attempts of the defendant, which are proven in their direct expression in these writings of the defendants. Thus, in his literary activity, the defendant with a certain hostile intention leaves the problems of life and time and introduces you to an intimate, small, lovely and fun world, typical of today’s bourgeois and revisionist literature and those influences. foreigners who were strongly criticized by the plenum of the 4th Central Committee of the ALP.
This is what he says in the novel “The Half-Left House” on pages 54-55, or his other stories, which, no doubt, cannot escape this hostile treatment, since not only were they written by a declared man enemy, but also created in conditions of complete isolation from society, in prison, away from our hectic and optimistic life. This explains the existence of very pessimistic grades in all the creativity of this defendant.
In this way, the statements of comrade Enver that “… such creations (referring to the enemy Fadil Paçrami)) are worthless and our society does not need them” find full concretization. Another direction of the defendant’s hostile activity in his writings is that of supporting and spreading religious ideas, erotic, sexual, degenerative and moral feelings.
Some of his stories focus on vagabonds, adventurers, immoral characters and others, such as that of the story “Ardiani”, “Disappointment”, the story in notebook no.5 and others. These hostile ideas of the defendant are fully concretized and proven, expressed in the expertise made on pages 15-25 of the investigative file.
Also, in this act is clearly expressed the desire of the Albanian reader for such crimes, for the revolutionary justice to act, for the Constitution to be implemented and for the law to act. This is the reason why the defendant “claims” that this act is tendentious and should be repeated, but no matter how hard he tries, he still cannot escape the severe blow of our proletarian dictatorship for committing such crimes, to the detriment of the party and the popular power.
The defendant also makes such attempts to conceal the truth in terms of the statements of witnesses, questioned by the investigator, going so far as to accuse them of being “members of the pot society”, informants, liars and others. From the statements of these witnesses the hostile figure of the defendant emerges even clearer, with all its ferocity and hatred for the popular power.
Thus, in the statement of witness JZ, the idealistic and anti-socialist worldview of the defendant is clear, which taken even in those ideas expressed and concretized in his writings, such as the defense of religious, immoral and other ideas, fully prove the hostile activity of the defendant… Thus he states that “socialism is not going to triumph on a global scale, it can only be established in poor countries… or witness MK, who says that”… let alone that these are filthy, are people and state without dignity… follow Stalin’s line… the policy of this state is deception… “and others.
While witnessing B.Ç., talking about our popular power, he said that “these people lie in their press and newspapers”. But the fierce hostility of this defendant to our popular power is openly expressed in his desire to overthrow our popular power, telling witness J.Z. that: “You and your uncle will open an account before us, that is why you are defending this system”, or when you advise the witness MK, that “Do not bow to these, we have the future, so you must be prepared other”.
From the evidence gathered in the investigative file emerge many other hostile conversations conducted by the defendant, or his ideas and views, but which together with the other material collected in the investigative file, with his attitude from the enemy to the investigator, fully prove not only the accusation against the defendant, but his being as a sworn enemy to the end of this popular power.
Therefore: Defendant Pjetër Arbënori, son of Filip and Gjystina, dated. 1935, born in Durrës, single, highly educated, unorganized, convicted in 1961 for treason against the homeland with 25 years of imprisonment, arrested on 30.1.1979 is accused: That he agitated and propagandized against our power, by thus committed the crime provided by Article 73/1 of the CC çfuqizuar.
This indictment was compiled today on 30.4.1979 by me, investigator Jani Kolezi and, together with other materials collected in the investigative file no. 13 K.H.
It is sent to the District Prosecutor’s Office for approval and sending the case to court.

Peter Arbnor’s answers to investigators
The defendant Pjetër Arbnori was questioned again today, on 7.2.1979, who explains the following about the questions asked:
Question: Defendant, tell us what is your social and friendly circle, with whom you work against the regime?
Answer: “I do not have a certain friendly and social circle, but I have accepted that in the room where I suffer to be polite to everyone except the hooligans. “I would rather live my whole life in prison than be subjected to a gang of hooligans” and the second statement is that: from the east, or from the west, or from the south, or from the north. ”
Burrell Prison 7.2.1979
Testimony of the prisoner Gj. L., against Arbnor
Verbal proceedings on the reporting of the crime committed in Tirana, on 8.XI.1977.
In 1967, I met Pjetër Arbnori in the Fushë-Krujë camp. With him I am acquainted in this way; the prisoners told me that this is Pjetër Arbnori, but I did not have any company with him. At the end of 1967, in August, I came to Burrel prison and met Pjetër Arbnori, that we felt together in room no.8.
In the room we discussed various political issues, some of which remained indifferent, while Pjetër Arbnori and I discussed these things; during the period September 1969 to May 1970.
In the general conversations I had with him I defended the socialist system. When I was defending socialist principles, Peter was telling me: why do you defend this system and why do you like this system, this regime has put you in prison and you are defending this system again; I told him that I made a mistake I was convicted, but still I am with this system that my family is with this power, he told me that your uncle was in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he arrested many innocent people and the time will come that you and your uncle will be accountable to us, that is why you are defending this system, I told him, if you come into force, I will kill myself and live in your hand and your friends do not fall.
With the release of Comrade Enver’s speech on the school revolution, we discussed these things. Peter told me that I do not agree with the revolutionization of the school, because it narrows the sphere of knowledge, does not open horizons to study, the government does this to put people to work.
I opposed his opinion, reading the newspaper… Pjetër Arbnori in conversation with him told me that I do not want this, it was about the popular power, but he also told me, in case it would not be this power, but it would be some other power, our country would have gone far ahead because other, capitalist states have a more organized system than the socialist states.
When he told me so, I opposed his opinion, telling him that if you had anything on hand you would do worse than the counter-revolutionaries in Hungary, who threw children from the fourth floor and killed the communists. Peter told me that it is not true that the counter-revolutionaries in Hungary acted as you say, but you misunderstood this…!
In conversation with Peter he told me that: you talk about socialism, but you do not know him. I explained in my own words that socialism is a new social system, where only one class rules, that of the workers, so you will not, it does not depend on the will of the people, socialism is a system that time itself requires. Peter told me that it is not as you say, the socialist state and the communists use dictatorship, there is no freedom here.
I told Peter Arbnor: What Lenin said at the meeting in Smolny (St. Petersburg) “We won the October Revolution and proclaimed the first socialist state in the world and through the internationalist path, based on the Marxist-Leninist path will triumph world socialism”.
This, said Lenin, was achieved, and why not believe that socialism will be achieved all over the world. Peter was telling me that socialism is not going to triumph. Socialism was established in the Soviet Union because they were musicians, while in China they were poor people, socialism is established only where there is ignorance, that in cultured countries socialism cannot be established, so e.g. in America, England, France, that people are rich and there is no poverty…!
Regarding the cultural revolution in China, I discussed these things with Peter: I told him that the cultural revolution in China finally won, but China is a poor country, it has not provided bread for their people, not to help us…! Peter told me about the Americans, that it is a strong state. When he told me that, I told him you said he was strong, but the Americans could not invade Vietnam.
He was telling me that the Americans, not that they are unable to invade Vietnam, but they are making fun of him, have turned him into a firing range. At the time when the party spoke about the school revolutionization and exactly when Comrade Enver spoke, I told him that this is a doctrine in itself.
Pjetri told me that to be a doctorate you must have finished for doctorates, while Enver Hoxha has only finished high school. To run the state, you have to come from a wealthy family, while a peasant cannot run, so e.g. Peter told me that if you take Prenga (it was a prisoner peasant) there is nothing he can do, to lead, or to become a doctor you must have rich origins.
In 1969 (October) my friend Gj.L. from Lezha told me that Pjetër Arbnori when I was in the camp of Laç in 1966 kept me close and proposed me to join his party, but I did not understand this trick and I left immediately I refused to enter in the Social Democratic party.
Peter, in Burrel prison, whenever new prisoners come, he studies them, keeps them close, gives them food and tells them not to approach the command… “!/Memorie.al
