Defendant Bedri Spahiu
Process – verbal
In Tirana, on January 8, 1958. I, Colonel Nevzat Haznedari and Rexho Hyseni, investigators of the State Security Directorate, interrogated the defendant Bedri Spahiu, who testified that the following:
The question started at 10:00
The question ended at 12:30 p.m.
Question: It is known that in 1955, you were expelled from the Central Committee of the Party and from the Party for anti-party activities. Show the character of your anti-party activity?
Answer: I have not done any hostile activity against the Albanian Labor Party.
Question: After being expelled from the Central Committee and the Party, with which of the anti-party elements did you keep in touch?
Answer: After my expulsion I have not maintained any connection with the anti-party element. I have not maintained any connection with anti-party elements.
Question: After being expelled from the party, which expelled elements from the party, did you meet?
Answer: After my expulsion from the Party, I met with Tuk Jakova, Frano Jakova who came to work in Elbasan.
Question: When did Tuk Jakova and Frano Jakova come to Elbasan, and with what work did they come?
Answer: Maybe in 1956, when I do not remember the date well, Tuk Jakova came to Elbasan to get boards in Elbasan, while Franua was on his way to Tirana, and for lack of a hotel, he was returning to my house.
Question: Yes, Tuk Jakova, he came to your house, have you met in any other place?
Answer: After Tuku came to Elbasan for the reasons I mentioned above, he came to meet me in the office, after we met I told him that if he was left without a hotel he would come home, and I even invited him to come without another because he would take me he was happy, and whenever he came to Elbasan, I would wait for him at home.
Question: Apart from Tuk and Franos, have you come and met any other person?
Answer: No other person than Tuk and Franos came.
Question: Has Frano Jakova slept in your house, or have you met anywhere else?
Answer: Frano Jakova, it seems to me that he came a couple of times and slept in my house, in two cases of passing or returning from Tirana due to lack of hotel.
Answer: It seems to me with Frano in the first case, when he came to my house for lack of hotel, in the conversation he told me that he is a salesman in a shop in Gramsh and received a salary of three thousand ALL. He also told me that he had been expelled from the Party and transferred from Tirana to Gramsh. I also explained to him that I work in the Collection Company, as the chief statistical officer and that I am paid 3,800 ALL per month.
While with Tuk I remember that we talked about the issue of rationalizations that he had done in his work there, and what I had done in our company. In this case, Tuku told me that he was expelled from the Party, that is, that he was expelled on the occasion of the drafting of the Central Committee decision of June 1955. We could have had other conversations of an ordinary nature, which I did not I remember.
Question: What views did you have regarding the anti-party elements, after your expulsion from the party?
Answer: For Tuk Jakov I had the view that he was expelled from the Party, for the measure taken by the Central Committee, because he had submitted several theses to the Central Committee, i.e. that Tuku in his theses as far as I remember, had laid out that; The party was organized by Miladin and not Enver and he also stated that if this is a mistake I accept it, while I do not remember other issues.
During the time in the Central Committee I have condemned these theses of Tuk Jakova, like all other members of the Central Committee, it is wrong to claim that our Party in the conditions of its creation and organization is organized by one man.
Question: Did you later agree with these theses?
Answer: After being expelled from the party, I left the political life and did not deal with politics and there were big changes that I do not know, and therefore following these changes, I am not able to have and express opinions on issues politics.
Question: Apart from the meetings at your house with Tuk Jakova and Frano Jakova, did you have any other connections?
Answer: If you want to say correspondence or meetings, or third or fourth party connections, or any other connection that can be understood, I have not had either Tuk Jakov or Frano Jakov.
Regarding the answer to the question whether I have met with an element expelled from the party, what I said above is true.
Defendant INVESTIGATOR
Bedri Spahiu Rexho Hyseni and Nevzat Haznedari
The document with the minutes of the interrogation of Bedri Spahiu by the two investigators of the State Security Directorate, Irfan Shaqiri and the first captain, Ferhat Matohiti, on dt. January 19, 1958
Process – Verbal
In Tirana, on January 19, 1958. We, the investigators of the State Security Directorate, Rexho Hyseni and Nuredin Kërxhalliu, interrogated the defendant Bedri Spahiu.
Question: Once again we tell you that you have been arrested for hostile work and anti-party activities, against the State Party. The investigator wants to know about your activity?
Answer: I have not done any anti-party activity, but my work has been pro-party and state.
Question: Tell us why you were expelled from the party and when?
Answer: I was expelled from the Party and from the Central Committee in 1955, when the case of Tuk Jakova was investigated. I was expelled because they suspected that Tuku had not told me other issues besides what he had told me, which I objected to and claimed that I would make these objections in the organization of the Party where the decision of the Plenum of Central Committee.
Question: In the first depositions you said that; Tuk Jakova has presented several theses in the plenum. In this plenum that Tuku has laid out these, have you participated?
Answer: In this plenum that Tuku raised some issues I was also.
Question: Since you were in the plenum when I presented these theses, do you remember what theses?
Answer: In the plenum, Tuku raised the issue that the role of Miladin in the organization of our Party is not mentioned, it is said that Comrade Enver is the organizer of our Party, but if it is an organizer, this organizer is Miladin.
I went to the Museum and saw that Spiro Koleka was put as the leader, he said, in the primer book, because it was made in Tosk and (Gegher) it was not done as it was, others I do not remember and if you tell me, I and u ‘ a them.
Question: Did you agree with these theses of Tuk that he submitted to the Plenum?
Answer: As will be seen from the discussion I am in the plenum, I condemned them like everyone else, saying that these are not the right views that Tuku puts forward.
Question: Before Tuku submitted these theses to the plenum, were you aware of these?
Answer: I was aware only of the issue of the primer, of the issue that in our propaganda in the Party School, the role of Meladin in helping our Party does not appear for two other issues that I do not remember. He raised these theses as conclusions from below and told me that he would talk to Comrade Enver. This decision that Tuku had, he said in a way both in his discussion and in the Central Committee.
Question: Where did you discuss these theses that Tuku would put forward, do you remember, and these conversations were on the way to the party?
Answer: The ones he talked to me about were completely party-going, but I do not remember where. These were in the way the party told him as field findings, that Miladin’s role was defined in the I Congress and if in the practical field of party propaganda is left aside, it is a violation of the party line and this is not allowed.
Question: You do not remember other theses presented by Tuku, but if we do, can you tell us about them?
Answer: Yes, if you will remind me of you, I will tell you./Memorie.al
