By Gjet Kadeli
Part Eighteen
Memorie.al publishes some archival documents issued by the Authority for the Information of the Files of the former State Security, where there is a voluminous file (the processing form file with 433 pages and the investigative and judicial file with 632 pages) in charge of Gjet Kadel, originating from the village of Bulshar in Oroshi of Mirdita and living in Bushnesh and Mamurras of Kurbin, former political prisoner in the communist regime of Enver Hoxha and his successor, Ramiz Alia, who spent 16 years in communist camps and prisons, as in Spaç, Burrel, etc. As we will see from the documents that are in the file in charge of Gjet Kadel, which is published for the first time by Memorie.al, the surveillance and pursuit of him began in 1957, when he was 17 years old, with the information report of the State Security officer, Fahri Kraja, (based on the data of the Security associate with the nickname “Dylli i Bardhë”, with the approval of the Head of the Department of Internal Affairs of the Kruja district, lieutenant colonel Muhedin Këxhalliu) , continued even during the period he was in camps and prisons, such as in Spaç, where after the revolt of May 1973, Gjeta was sentenced again, as he was the main ideator for raising the flag without the communist star, continuing then in the prison of Burrel, with the reports-information of the Operative Worker, Piro Nuredini, etc., about Gjeta’s conversations with other convicts of that prison, such as: Pjetër Arbnori, Daut Gumeni, Abdulla Sallaku, Spartak Ngjela, Avni Aliko, Luan Burimi , Çaush Çoku, Kapllan Resuli, B come Gjonzeneli, Bashkim Shehu, etc. The surveillance and follow-up of Gjet Kadel continued even after his release from prison in 1987, continuing until January 1991, with the collapse of the communist regime, when his file was finally closed and archived in the secret archive of the former State Security. In the same way, an important place in the said files is also occupied by letter correspondence of Gjeta and his family, with their father, Pjetër Kadeli, former soldier of the Monarchy of Zogu, who had blown up the prison cells of Internal Branch of Rrëshen on July 28, 1950, stayed for some time in the mountains on the run, and then in 1951, secretly returned to Mirdita, took his son, Gjoni, and escaped to Yugoslavia and then to the USA- es, where he stayed as a political emigrant, until the beginning of the 90s, when he returned permanently to Albania. During this period of almost 35 years since Gjet Kadeli has been followed and monitored by the State Security, a total of 33 associates of the State Security have been engaged and activated against him, who have given their reports, starting from “White Wax” in 1957, until the “Mountain Swallow” in 1990, which will be reflected in full, as they are in the relevant files.

REPORT
On 6/20/1973, in a conversation with Nik Deda, he asked Nika how he came to the investigator today. Nika said that; I am continuing to compare my statements with what the witnesses may have said. In these conversations, he asked Gjeta about Adem Muja, when he met Xina. Nika, Ademi said, met Xina there at the beginning of her arrival.
He asked Nika; and you, when did you get the password from Gina? Nika said; I don’t know anything about that. He said to Nika; yes, does Adam know anything about the password that Gina gave you? Nika said that; I don’t know if Ademi knows or not my password that Gina took from me.
Then there was a conversation about how Nika met Gina. For this, Nika said that; I later met Gina’s husband, named Fran Sokol, who had a house near my cafe and often went to the house of his sister-in-law, Fran. And after Gina came from Belgium, she and her husband often visited my sister-in-law. On one occasion, I also happened to be at my sister-in-law’s house when Gina came and we got to know each other there, and after this acquaintance, six months after Gina had arrived, she gave me the password.
Regarding what Nika had written to deposit, asked how she compiled it? He told Nika that; you compiled it well, but you should write it in more detail. Nika said; they told me the same in the investigator, but what I say is true. He asked Nika that; how was it going in Tirana, Xina? Nika said; yes, she went often, when he asked her who she went with? He told her that, several times he went with my godmother, whose name is Luçe, and several times with a woman who is a cousin of Xina’s husband, whose name is Katerina, and a couple of times, he went with me to Tirana.
Nika did not tell him where she went, but that she stayed for 2-3 days. Then there was a conversation about Adem Muja, when he asked Nika if he knew anything about the other, the issue of the group? Nika said; I Skender Berisha, Gjet Kadeli, Adem Muja and Xhina Sokoli, we know about each other and each one’s duty.
For example, I Nika, Skënder Berisha, Gjet Kadeli, the three of us discussed it together. Also, I Ademi and Gjeta, the three of us have talked about it. Also at Ghina’s house, I, Ademi, Ghina and Gjet Kadeli talked. Nika said that; each of us had his duties. The tasks in general were to do agitation and propaganda. For example, Skender had the duty to make the youth and the villagers unhappy, while I was to make you unhappy in Mamurras.
Then, he asked Nika about Ademi’s brothers, if they knew anything that Ademi worked for U.D.B.? Nika said, I don’t know anything about it. Regarding Nika’s acquaintance with Adem Muja, as a member of the U.D.B., Nika said that; I learned this after the arrival of Gina and the introduction she made to me in her house, with Adam.

Task:
- Be careful not to advance too much with questions, as there is a risk of understanding you.
- In the conversation with Nika, clarify from him, about what Nika deposits, do they stand as he deposits, or not, if so, how does he argue to the investigator? Also, encourage him to give more details in his depositions.
- If he gets your opinion, how he deposited, in relation to this or that problem, how should I do it in the future? To tell him that, in my opinion, it depends on our interest and your predisposition. In case you are convinced that you throw them with your deposits, throw them and continue like that, but on the contrary, be careful that you are taking yourself in the neck.
- To learn better and more fully from Nika, if the members of the group served for the U.D.B. and did they know about each other, as a member of the group, each one’s duties, etc.
OPERATIONAL MEASURES
- Nika’s conversations with B.p., to be recorded with T.O.
- To request the IV Branch of the III Directorate, the bundle of Gjon Karamani, who would come as a Kos-Met trader in the People’s Republic of Albania, and this would receive the information compiled by the group and study it there.
- To go to Tirana, where Gjet Kadeli is isolated and to be taken to the investigator, to be questioned about Nika’s depositions.
- To verify who Katerina is who lives in Mamurras, with whom Angjelina went to Tirana.
- The report should be printed in 6 copies, one for Ademi, one for Skënder Berisha, one for Nik Deda, one for Gjet Kadel, one for Kin Basha and one for the investigation.
Clarification of the Report:
- Nik Deda was arrested for agitation and propaganda and returned from the U.D.B. In the detention rooms, to be processed by this B.p.
- Adem Muja has recently been arrested for smuggling, for which Ademi himself admits, while for what Nika deposits, Ademi does not deposit anything.
- Gjet Kadeli has been convicted of agitation and propaganda and at the end of the month; he participated in the rebellion of Spaçi prisoners, for which he will be punished. When he was convicted in 1972 and now in the investigator, he did not break down and did not say anything about what implicates Nik Deda.
- Skënder Berisha, is an educator, is of Kosovar origin, for which Nik Deda implicates him, as a member of his residency, he was taken to P.P.

The document compiled by the Interior Department of the Kruja district, with the decision to archive the file of Gjet Kadel, as he was in Spaçi prison, newly convicted after the revolt in that camp, on May 22, 1973
APPROVED SECRET
HEAD OF THE INTERIOR P. BRANCH Krujë, on 14.8.1973
(Hamid Myrdari)
DECISION
ON THE ARCHIVING OF THE FILE IN PROCESSING 2/A OF PETER KADELIT
The city of Krujë, on 8.8.1973, I, the Operative Worker of the Internal Affairs Branch of the district, Krujë, Thanas Toto, from the study I made of the form file in category 2/A, in charge of Gget Kadel.
I FOUND:
Then Gjet Kadeli, the son of Pjetri and Dila, born in 1942, born in Orosh, Mirdita district, and currently living in Mamurras, this district, by profession, married with 6 children, convicted in 1958 , for carrying weapons without a permit with two years of imprisonment, middle class, with Albanian nationality and citizenship, with seven years of education.
The political attitude of his family before the liberation was not good, because, like his father and aunt, he was in favor of those regimes and likewise, even after the liberation, Gjeta’s father did not maintain a good attitude, he agitated and has propagated, against the government, sheltered and supplied the fugitives from Yugoslavia, for this, in 1949, Gjeta’s father is arrested, but finding the opportunity, from the prison of the Mirdita Internal Police Branch, he escapes and as soon as he comes out from prison, goes home, takes his son, Gjon Kadel, and escapes abroad, where he continues to be today.
After escaping, Gjeta and his mother were interned first in Tepelena and later in Lushnje, where they stayed until 1955, when he was released. At this time, Gjet Kadeli, remaining loyal to his father, who betrayed the motherland, threw himself into hostile activity against the party and popular power, so in 1959, he was taken under operative control 2/B, and in this year, Gjeta was captured and sentenced to three years of imprisonment, for carrying weapons without a permit, but even after leaving prison, Gjeta continues his hostile activity, agitating and propagandizing against the government, meets with Yugoslav drivers and shows a tendency to escape abroad.
In 1967, 2/A is taken into active processing and this processing continues until 1970, at which time it is reduced to 2/B, because it stopped its activity for a period of time, in 1972, Gjet Kadeli, is again taken into processing 2/A, for the reason that before B.p. “Cezma e Troja”, this expresses terror tendencies towards the leadership of the Party and the state, given that this was proven with T.O. and it turned out as reported by B.p.
On the basis of this data and other data with legal force, Gjeta was proposed for arrest and on 1.9.1972, he was arrested. During the development of the investigation, Gjeta did not admit that he had engaged in hostile activity, but this was proved by the witnesses and as such he was sentenced to ten years in prison. Guided according to the instructions of the operational evidence, of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, No….Dt…
DECIDED
That the file form 2/A in charge of Gjet Kadel, who was followed as suspicious as a Yugoslav agent, to be archived in the file for 5 years, for the reason that Gjeta is young and can jump into the activity again. Memorie.al
