The document with the minutes of the interrogation of Dhora Lekë by the two investigators of the State Security Directorate, Irfan Shaqiri and the first captain, Ferhat Matohiti

                                                       Process – verbal

                                                         (Evidence)

In Tirana, on January 15, 1958. We, the investigators of the State Security Directorate, Irfan Shaqiri and Captain I, Ferhat Matohiti, interrogated the convict Dhora Leka.

The convicted Dhora Leka was brought to criminal responsibility, according to Article 228 of the Criminal Code, if she makes false depositions, or is limited to her depositions.

I got notice

Dhora Leka

Question: In your investigative process, you testified about hostile activity in relation to Tuk Jakov. Tell us this one more time?

Answer: With Tuk Jakova, I have started my activity since the time he left the Plenum of the Central Committee. Tuku called me on the phone and told me to go to their house.

When I went home, he told me that measures had been taken against him, because he had made mistakes against the Party and because of that, he had to leave Tirana for Berat and I had to be interested in the things.

In the evening, after we had gathered the things, Tuku when he gathered the books, tore some letters which I do not know what they were, but told me that; a mistake was made, that no inventory was made, that since I received these books, they belonged to Koci Xoxa and some to Sejfulla Malëshova.

When Tuku and Mita went to Berat, I accompanied them and stayed there for two days. For my going there, I got permission from Foto Stamo as a government and as a party, from Fatmir Gjata.

Thus, I was reprimanded in the organization because I went to accompany Tuk Jakova. In August 1955, Mita came from Berat and met with me, who asked to discuss an issue.

I accepted and she showed that; Tuku had prepared a letter to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union and that this letter, she was instructed to deliver to the Soviet ambassador in Tirana.

She did not tell me what the letters contained, but I went shopping, bought the envelope, wrote it in Russian, and taught Mita how to get to the embassy.

According to my order, Mita went to the embassy and handed the letter to the first secretary of the Soviet embassy, when Mita returned from the embassy, she roughly showed me the contents of the letter.

Also, Mita told me that in the garden of their house in Berat, Tuku and Mita had talked extensively, the issues that Tuku raised in the plenum and how they were taken for his thoughts. In this way, even Mita was convinced of the injustice done to Tuk.

From the stories that Mita told me, from the letter he addressed to the Soviet Union, as well as from its content that he roughly told me, I was also convinced that Tuku had been unjustly hit.

On November 7, 1955, an invitation came to me for the evening given at the Soviet embassy and here during the dance, Rexhep Xhika came and took me for a dance, during this dance, he asked me about Tuk and I told him that; was hit because he raised some issues in the plenum (issues, I did not tell him this time).

He told me that he felt very sorry for Tuk, that he had a great consideration for him and knew him since the communist groups in Shkodra, he told me that he had seen my sister on the street, very weak, he ordered me to give him greetings and if he needed any items.

I told them they did not need to, but he insisted that I tell my sister. When I got home, I told these to Mita and she told me that; do not get us in trouble.

With the arrival of the Yugoslav artists, I was instructed to wait for them, and when a reception was given by the Minister of the Yugoslav Legation, Ajtic, I talked to him here about Tuk Jakova:

At first he complimented me on my activity, on the occasion of Yugoslav artists, asked me about Tuk, why he was convicted, I told him why he was convicted and I added that; the measures were unfair, my conversation was based on the letter that Tuku had addressed to the Soviet embassy, e.g. I told him that; Miladini had a great role in the organization of the Party, regarding the cult of the person that Enver Hoxha says is the founder of the party, while as secretary, he was elected in Labinot in 1943.

Ajtiçi, told me that; soon the XX Congress will take place and there will be things of importance.

In one of the meetings I had with Cveton, he expressed to me the desire that he wanted to know Tuk’s opinion about relations with Yugoslavia. When Tuku came for the New Year 1956, I told him about the conversation I had with Cveton, with Ajtic, and asked him what he thought about it, and Tuku told me: Issues with Yugoslavia would be resolved through a revolution that had to be done in Yugoslavia and was optimistic that relations with Yugoslavia would improve rapidly.

These things I said to Cveto, Tuk’s opinion, he told me that; I did not think Tuku to be so naive. At the end of January 1956, Mita came to Tirana and this told me that Tuku had gone to Elbasan, had stayed one night with Bedri and in the end they had reached the same conclusions.

I sent a message to Mita with my cousin, Evanthi, to receive the letter that Tuku had prepared and Mita had not sent it with this, but he came later and told me the conversation with Bedri that they had had in Elbasan.

When Mita came, I told him that the letter was not wanted by those of the Soviet Union, but by the people of the Yugoslav Legation. She insisted not to give it to me, after a while Cvetua came and with a little hesitation, on Mita’s part, he met Mita, who refused to give him the letter, but told him that; could tell its contents.

He did not want to and when he came out he told me that; for us, it matters what position Tuk Jakova will take with the Yugoslavs, i.e., with us. At this time, I told him that I had copied the letter, which I had given to Cvetos.

From Gjirokastra I met three times with Tuk in Berat. In the first case, I had this conversation: I told him about the conduct of Congress, the measures taken for me, the question of the Party Committee as to who was expelled, in general about the political situation and the last conversation I had with Cveton, that the issue of Albania cannot be separated from the issues of all the People’s Democracies and that this work will be completed within 4-5 months.

Although I had left Tirana, I would keep them up to date with news and that if it was good news, I would call them on the phone, under the slogan: “How are the children in health”.

The second time, I talked about these things: I came from Gjirokastra to Tirana, I stopped one night in Berat and Tuku ordered me to be interested in finding out something, i.e., any news.

When I returned, we commented on Khrushchev’s visit to Yugoslavia, for the letter that the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union had sent to other parties, about the stay in Yugoslavia and Furceva’s arrival in Albania.

We commented on Comrade Enver’s speech in Korea and Tuku told me that; although they have passed through Moscow, they are still in the old positions.

We talked about the problem of the Republic VII and the Divisions and Tuku said that these were imaginary problems and have no basis. Likewise, for economic policy that has first been invested in unprofitable facilities.

Here, he told me that a communist, Sokrat Bufi, had sent a letter to the Central Committee, stating that; comrade Mehmet Shehu is Beria’s agent. In this case, I learned that Tuku was almost of the same mindset as Bedri Spahiu.

In the third case, when I came from Gjirokastra, I went to Tuku and informed him about the whole situation I had heard on the radio, when I returned from Tirana to Berat, I talked to Tuku about these things:

I showed him the sympathy they had for Tuku, we turned on the radio and listened to Rajk’s cortege and in this regard, we also made comments about Koci Xoxen, Tuku said: this is how we will bury him in Tirana and Bedriu knows the grave. The division of responsibilities was also discussed here.

Tuku told me that; in the leadership of the Party I cannot do it, but it would be good for state work, here there was a hint of a prime minister. He had come to Bedri’s view, that he is right when he says, that; Enver is an obstacle for the welfare of the people, that Mehmet can be sacrificed by Enver.

He told me that; when he was in the Council of Ministers, I objected to objects such as: Cërriku, etc., which were not profitable, but they opposed me. Tuku was for the light consumer industry.

On the last occasion that I met with Tuk, I went with my mother, informed her about Tito’s speech in Puglia, about the contradictions that exist in the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, news that I had received from Cvetua , who told me that; the head must be preserved.

I sent news to my mother that Kadri Hazbiu called me and that I did not tell her anything./ Memorie.al
