“According to Dhimitri Trebicka, Fan Noli’s speech was not well received by Albanians, who in general have different opinions about him, some think that Fan Noli sympathizes with our government and his works, while the rest, considers him the main culprit for the hostile path of the “Hearth”. An extremist group, led by Asllan Dragotin, portrays Fan Noli as “the enemy” and the “divider of the Albanians of America.” This is stated, among other things, in a report-information dated April 20, 1960, drafted by the Director of the Foreign Directorate in the Central Committee of the ALP, Pirro Bita, who presented it to Enver Hoxha, as well as four members of the Politburo and at the same time secretaries of the Central Committee (Hysni Kapos, Rita Markos, Haki Toska and Ramiz Alia), who also constituted the highest leader of the Albanian leadership of that time. The information in question was compiled based on a report sent to Tirana by the Albanian mission to the United Nations based in New York, which talks about an activity carried out by Bishop Fan Noli in the Church of St. George. in Boston, as well as with his political views and attitudes towards the Albanian government and its leadership. In parentheses of this information contained in the document in question, we recall that, throughout its existence, from the distant year 1945 to 1990, the communist regime of Enver Hoxha and his successor Ramiz Alia, kept under control permanent also all creators, writers and artists and all people of Albanian letters. This, not only to those creators who lived and worked in Albania but also to those intellectuals and people of Albanian literature who were abroad in emigration, fleeing or remaining there since the war, who were considered and labeled as “Reactionaries and enemies of the people.” Such as: Ernest Koliqi, Martin Camaj, Arshi Pipa, Kostë Çekrezi, Namik Resuli, Mahmut Cungu, Xhelal Staravecka, Isa Ndreu, Lec Shllaku, Lin Delia, Gjelosh Gjoka, etc., against whom official Tirana was constantly “smart” “. As can be seen from the content of this document, but also from the position taken by the communist regime of Tirana for Noli throughout his existence, it seems that more than his political position, he has taken care of how to present and use the figure of his before the Albanian public opinion. So, to make it more and more like a “historical museum” figure, opposing the figure of King Zog, although in 1943, Noli wrote to the British government, informing them that: “Only King Zog it can be brought and put at the head of an Albanian government to organize the fight against the occupiers until the liberation of the country…. ” (The letter in question is in the Central State Archive in Tirana). This is clear not only from what has been written about Noli from 1945 to 1990 but also from the fact that official Tirana has kept secret and “Top Secret” documents of this kind for Noli, by he forgave some “sins” to the “Red Bishop”.
