– The names of Albanian merchants and rich people who were robbed by the communist regime and where did the amount of 43,816,682 gold coins collected by the State Security go?!
Memorie.al / An article published years ago, in the magazine “In the service of the people” (former organ of the Ministry of Internal Affairs), by Nuri Mehmeti, has opened a considerable controversy in the years of transition, with the title “When the economic foundations of popular power were laid”. This article was published on pages 14-15 of the August 1984 issue, in the magazine in question, with the headline “40 years of liberation, the path of war and victory”! Later controversy regarding this article arose because the figure of 43,816,682 gold coins mentioned in the article, stolen from the State Security, was an official figure.

– WHO DEPOSITED THE GOLD IN THE WEST?!
Nobody wanted at that time to deal with the essence of the problem, but only to cover it up. Thus the socialist press openly began its anti-American campaign. The socialist newspaper “24 Hours”, in the wake of communist solidarity and relying on the slogan “Vietnam will win”, published a photo of John McGoy, at the time when he was fighting against the communists in Vietnam.
“ZP” journalist L.R. went even further, who considered McGoin “an American mercenary” (see “ZP” February 26, 1992). None of these saw in McGoey a valuable witness for unraveling the mysteries of gold, but only a political opponent, or even worse, an enemy of Vietnam. None of them wanted the truth to be revealed.
A day later, on March 19, 1992, during an interview at TVSH, President Ramiz Alia cast doubt on the Swiss citizen, John McGoy. While admitting the release of 3.2 tons of gold “for state purposes”, Alia scoffed at the loss of 270 tons of gold. Like other times, he defended the “viewpoint” that; there has never been such a figure.
As is known, Ramiz Alia is a key person in all the political developments of the Labor Party and the man who had more knowledge than anyone about the stolen Albanian gold. His answers, in the present case, convince you even more about his involvement in the matter of gold.
-WHAT WERE THE MOVEMENTS OF HAKI TOSKAS, THE ‘KEYS’ TO ENVER HOXHA’S DEPOSITS IN THE WEST?
As we wrote before, the most important monetary deposits of the communist leadership, in the West, were held by three people. They were:
-Enver Hoxha
– Enter Kapo
– Mehmet Shehu
After the coup of Mehmet Shehu and the taking of his deposits, Enver Hoxha’s successor, Ramiz Alia, took his place. The latter is also the man who led the gold movements in the last years of the communist regime.
The monetary deposits of the senior communist leadership were justified in the secret ranks, as “party deposits” for the needs of the secret service, for the financing needs of the Marxist-Leninist movement in the world and for the needs of the party, in case of war in Albania.
The key to Enver Hoxha’s monetary deposits in the West was Haki Toska. Among the most important executive duties of Toska, was that of the Deputy Prime Minister, in the period September 16, 1966 – November 18, 1970, and that of the Minister of Finance, in the last government of Mehmet Shehu.
Other Ministers of Finance, who had information about gold, were:
-Ramadan Çitaku (minister from 1944 to February 5, 1948).
– Abdyl Kellezi (July 23, 1948 – July 16, 1962).
-Aleks Verli (July 17, 1962 – October 27, 1974).
– Lefter Goga (October 28, 1974 – December 26, 1978).
-Haki Toska (December 27, 1978 – January 14, 1982).
– Qirjako Mihali (January 15, 1982 – February 19, 1987).
-Andrea Nako (October 20, 1987 – February 22, 1991).
All have died and the last one was Qirjako Mihali, who lived until 2009. Especially important witnesses for the gold were Ramadan Çitaku, who died humiliated by Enver Hoxha and Abdyl Këllezi, who was shot by him, as a “traitor.” and saboteur”, in 1976. According to all possibilities, Këllezi disappeared rather, as a dangerous man, who knew about the hidden gold.
But it is also thought that Haki Toska’s ministerial mandate was not a little important, at the time of the events that ended with the murder of Mehmet Shehu and the “confiscation” of his bank account in the West.
According to the witnesses, even in the 60s, 70s or 80s of the last century, there was a transfer of quantities of gold from the port of Durrës. This happened at the time when the heads of the Internal Affairs branches in this district were: Lilo Zeneli, Kopi Niko (husband of Fatos Nano’s aunt, known as a professional persecutor) and Kapllan Shehu.
– THE LAST QUANTITY OF GOLD, WHICH HAS LEFT FROM ALBANIA
On the eve of the capitulation of the communist regime, Ramiz Alia followed another tactic, which had to do with the second financial insurance of his political class. In the period 1988 – 1990, other amounts of gold left Albania, mostly escaping from Rinas airport. On June 7, 1992, President Berisha, by means of a letter, asked the Swiss authorities for their help regarding the Albanian gold, which was located in Switzerland.
For this purpose, the governor of the Bank of Albania, Ilir Hoti, authorized on March 1, 1993, the legal firm “Poncet Varluzer” and partners, members of the Geneva Bar, to act on behalf of the authorizing officer, to clarify the accounts opened by the Bank of Albania in Switzerland.
The lawyers involved in this case were Charles Poncet, Dominique Varluzel, Ereic Alves De Souza, Oliver Peclard, Didier Bottge, Alan Levy, Izabel Hagman and Gisele Stanislas.
– ZURICH STATE POLICE REPORT, IN RELATION TO GOLD TRANSFERRED FROM ALBANIA IN 1989
Zurich Airport Police, Criminal Division, on March 11, 1993, drafted the report for Jann Corrodi, with the subject: “Information regarding the delivery of gold, originating from Albania, on Swissair SR 459 flights, July 3 1989, and February 19, 1991”. This report, among other things, has the following content:
“Investigations related to the matter mentioned above at the Airport Security Service have given the following results:
-On July 3, 1989, with flight ‘SR 459’ from Tirana, 3,100 kg arrived. gold This shipment was received and deposited by the Security Service.
-On July 5, 1989, this shipment was transported to ‘MAT SECURITAS’ and cleared by the latter. Investigations by “MAT” have shown that the shipment was cleared by customs, containing gold and silver ingots, as well as coins with a value of 19.7 million francs. The whole shipment was taken by order of “Union De Banque”, Switzerland, to Edelmetallschmelzerei in Mendrision/TI.
Final disposition: March 11, 1993……”!
Regarding March 19, 1991, the Zurich State Police stated that; there were no flights from Tirana to Zurich. On two other flight dates, February 18 and 21, 1991, there were no records of gold deposits.
On March 23, 1993, by means of a letter sent to Tirana, Charles Poncet (Doctor of Law at the Geneva Bar), informed the highest authority of the Albanian state that, after a correspondence with Judge Dieter Jann Corradi, some amounts of gold, in transit from Switzerland.
The other member of the law firm, “Poncet Varluzer”, Oliver Peclard (lawyer of the College of Geneva) by means of a correspondence of the same date (February 23, 1993), after collecting the data from the State Police of Zurich, thus addresses the judge above mentioned:
“The result of the preliminary investigations of the Zurich State Police, regarding the delivery of gold, originating from Albania, on Swissair flights ‘RS 459’ of July 3, 1989, and February 19, is very interesting. The data and documents that were able to be collected from Albania and that were discussed in the framework of the investigation, in fact, highlight numerous transfers of gold, from Tirana to Zurich, between the years 1988 – 1991. So, it seems that it is clear from the Swiss investigation that; significant amounts of gold, which seemed to have left Tirana, in fact had never reached Zurich….!”!
-WHAT DO THESE INVESTIGATIONS SHOW…?!
Although the investigations were not properly carried out to the end, due to the long time required in such cases and due to the change of power in Albania, they proved that; from Albania, considerable amounts of gold have moved, at the end of the 80s, when the bankruptcy of the communist regime throughout the East and especially in Albania was becoming even clearer.
What is worth emphasizing is the fact that; it is not only Switzerland, the last nest of a piece of Albanian gold. It has also been a place of transit for this gold. In the countries of Latin America, or in Canada, there is a considerable amount of gold, which has made “bourgeois” the scumbags of former predators, the scumbags of the most ordinary class that Albania has ever had.
WHAT DO WE CONCLUDE?
At the end of this cycle, we reach the following conclusions:
1-Albanians’ gold, looted by communists, was generally not used for state purposes, but:
- It was stolen by those who directly took part in the robbery.
- He went on account of the high communist leadership, like in Switzerland or South or North America. Among the people most enriched with Albanian gold are the Hoxha clan, the Kapo clan and the Alia clan (as an autonomous branch of the Hoxha clan).
- It has been transported to other countries, such as the former Soviet Union and elsewhere.
2-For the gold that was produced in Rubik, it turns out that a good part of it did not enter the treasury.
3-In the last years of the communist regime, a considerable amount of gold crossed the border, which was deposited in the West, like the rest.
4- A part of the money received from Albanian gold has come to Albania, in the form of NGOs, or that of investments that seem not to be profitable. Memorie.al
